Article in Sports on Earth. The writer seems convinced that Tom Herman is going to stay in Houston.

To its credit, the university's board of regents met this week to approve a new offer in hopes of holding onto Herman. On Thursday, it was revealed to be $3 million per year, which would easily make him the highest-paid Group of Five coach. In the meantime, Herman has been busy building what's become a movement called #HTownTakeover .

Herman often cites a quote from ex-Houston coach Bill Yeoman, who once opined that swinging a dead cat in Houston would lead to hitting at least 10 Division I recruits.

On a particularly important recruiting weekend earlier this year, Herman invited 25 recruits from the area to campus, brought them into a room and showed them two films: ESPN's 30 for 30 film on the rise of Miami football, "The U," and a documentary called "The UH Experience," which recently captured three Lone Star Emmys.

What Herman's point lacked in subtlety, it possessed in clarity and audacity: Stay home in Houston and help me build a powerhouse that represents your home city.

Tom Herman quickly makes a big impact at Houston.

Herman showed U1? That must be his subtle way of saying he wants the Miami job.

Thats his way of not lookin foolish recruiting them to come here next month. #1 on my list. Bring him in, and were in playoffs next season. Butch will no doubt assemble incredible talent, but when will he win with it? Herman will win next year, and recruits will follow.

Pass??? Dude, I want the same **** you're smoking! Herman would do wonders here, period.. He won't be a lifer, but **** he would make Miami scary, that's for sure! You can bring in cristobum, & mr. Weak (strong) and they would learn a thing or 2 from this man.. The day urban leaves the game for good, Herman will be up at tosu winning national championships for them, his dream job! AGAIN

I believe Herman said he was flattered by the offer but did not want to discuss contracts until after the season is over. I salute Houston for going all in but it's clear that he wants to keep his options ipen
