I don't care if this gets 10000 reads or none, I just need to write it to go to sleep tonight. Not soundly, just at all.
There's only a very narrow set of possibilities for how this can turn out for the best in the long term, and that is a long long road after tonight. However to even have a chance at it, the coming hours, days, and weeks are critical. While the problems facing us are immensed and not easily captured in a single post, what needs to happen in that small span of time is actually very simple and crystal clear.
1. Call and cancel season tickets personally, everyone who has them. Send an immediate and loud message. If you do not do this, then you're ok with contributing money to a loser program that has no resemblance to the identity that was built around the logo they walk around with on their uniforms. This doesn't get any better at this point without you waking up. If you are a donor of any sort, call to let them know you are pulling the plug until wholesale changes are made.
2. A protest of the AD on the campus of the University of Michigan got the dude removed and got national coverage, which spurred the Admin to invest heavily in the football program. We can do the same thing. Organize an event for this on campus, and blast it everywhere. Imagine if a sea of wider miami just started pouring into campus in front of the Presidents office. That is not close to unimaginable either. Good lord are both James and Strawley being fired. The privileged and pristine campus of the Stanford of the South being invaded? Admins and academics gonna have panic attacks, BOT gonna run into safe rooms.
3. Fly a banner next game. Hire Butch. Reboot Miami. Dismantle Admin and Athletic Program. Whatever you want.
4. Shame the UM admin in whatever other way you can. Write posts. Write articles. Big podcasts, start talking about who Blake and Strawley are and start examining and talking about what makes an elite college program, not just a team. Put them on the spot light. Edit: Linking this thread under this category
I intend to help in any of the efforts that I mentioned or aligned efforts I find as potentially effective.
The UM Admin is a stink show failing in everything academic and athletic, and the chickens are home to roost. I care about the school because at it's best I think it represents and enhances a unique culture and community. I also think it's a barometer of where that community is at, and this Canes team reflects a cancer that goes to the core of the fat, cozy, lazy, incompetent bureaucrat groupies running that school and this city. Turning this whole thing around, is not some trivial sport. I very much believe it's a matter of importance for the entire city of Miami.
I'm hurt dog.
