He’s not wrong (Mike Ryan tweet)

1. Blake James was a bad AD.

2. Blake James cared about winning at Miami, he just wasn't equipped to do it.

3. Blake James didn't have anything close to the resources DRad now has at its disposal.

4. I wouldn't have trusted Blake with the resources that were subsequently poured into the athletic program after his departure.

All four of those things can be true.

Sure, but how much of that was because of his complacency? There's the infamous story of a big donor (forget who exactly) asking him if he had an unlimited budget what would be he do with it? His answer was "maybe an analysts or two and some slight upgrades to the locker room." He was asked a second time to think bigger and he restated the same thing. That alone speaks volumes to his vision or lack thereof.
It was Dan Lambert from American Top Team who asked him

He was a cancer groomed by another cancer. Anybody that has ever met Blake James and spent time with the guy, knows he is a smug ******* in way over his **** head. I don’t believe it’s any coincidence that as soon as he was gutted we see positive movement within the athletic department. It wasn’t his fault he was given the job but man his personality/charisma/attitude did nothing to give him the benefit of doubt that he was in over his head

Biggest thing was he had no vision. That’s unacceptable from an AD
Where did he end up?

This is such an accurate statement. Well done.

You could say the EXACT same things by substituting "Blake James" with "Manny Diaz."

Silly and a massive stretch.

Clemson baseball and basketball were dog**** under Rad the last few years.
They missed a regional for the first time since 2008. It's been a solid program. Basketball hasn't been great, but they made the tournament in 20/21 and the Sweet Sixteen 17/18. You ever been to Clemson? Not an easy place to recruit especially for urban players.

Yes the timing could also be luck but it could also be reinvigorated coaches with a new boss new budgets? It’s just interesting how the three major sports have taken off!
He was the absolute first that needed to go to get the resource commitments. Rad is a builder. Pardon our dust we are building national and conference champions. No reason women's soccer and women's rowing are not better. Who would not want to row in Indian River in January or February? Sure beats the **** out of the Charles.

If you really think big picture, the trend started swinging back "our" way when Donna left. If she was still at UM, Blake would still be here and Mario would be at Oregon.

Can we talk about the fact it is KNOWN Blake James NEVER ASKED FOR HELP financially.

This is the worst kept secret ever.

Blake James MADE HIS OWN BED.

He lacked vision.

He did not and does not know how to run an elite program.

I am sick and tired of this notion people should not be held accountable. He showed up for a paycheck and did the bare ******* minimum and was enabled by a generation of BOT members who needed a hot poker shoved up their ******** to change anything and Blake abliged them happily for that paycheck.

Gtfoh

The troll from under the bridge was a curse on our athletic department.... she had to be ousted along with her inept lackeys in dept and BoT

I choose to believe that Rad’s accountability and the general hope for success from the reinvestment are the greatest factors.
L and DiMare could send a better, and believeable message of the future since Rad's hire.

I think that's meaningful on the trail and in assistant recruitment/retention.

This is all true but we’re talking about the success of this season for two teams. It’s delusional to think Rad had anything to do with that. And don’t get me wrong I love his hire and he’s gonna do great things. He had been at the job for maybe a couple of weeks when basketball started turning it around, and the baseball turn around started with the roster turnover and infusion of additional talent - way before he even got here.

Honestly, how many here would give a **** if UM Football wins two national championships and goes to the playoffs six straight years?
