They stay out west for the Palusami, Pani popo, Lu Pulu, Lu Sipi, Topai, Tako Poke, Squid Luau and lomilomi salmon...
 
It's hard to convince a kid in Hawaii to leave the state. Honestly alot of those kids end up not pursuing colleges just because of the distance. So convincing a kid to go to a school over 5 hours away is a little difficult. Also alot of them are Mormons, so many of those kids dream school is BYU for religious purposes.

What are you talking about? Most Hawaii kids want to leave for college especially with UH being so crappy right now. I don't know of any good prospect from Hawaii that decided not to pursue college because of distance. There are marginal guys who choose not to pursue football in college because they would have to walk on, but that is the case everywhere.

We do have some Mormons but I wouldn't call BYU a dream school for most of them. Mantei was Mormon and went to ND. Oregon and Washington are the 2 popular destinations right now with Oregon being the "Dream school" for most local kids.
