Great video on Rhett Lashlee’s 3rd down play calls

Watched the SMU v TCU game yesterday on YouTube. Unbelievably impressed not just with his play calling, but his feel for the game (which Enos simply didn’t have). I will say this, SMU’s WRs looked good - particularly Roberson. Those kids definitely did not look like 3*s. Very physical and won lots of contested passes.

It’s incredible how inept Enos’ was. With a stellar offensive line it would have worked (what offense wouldn’t?) but the lack of simplicity and continuing to try and do things you know had a low % chance of working is literally the definition of insanity.

After watching plenty of Lashlee in the month or 2 after he was hired, I’m convinced our offense will at the very least be respectable in year 1. The offense is simple and utilizes common sense yet isn’t predictable.

3rd downs have been a nightmare for this program for years. One thing this video showed was the ability to convert in 3rd and longish situations. With King’s ability to run and create plays that will open up even more conversions that normally would have ended in a sack or incomplete.

Keep it simple stupid.

We have an up and coming offensive mind who knows how to prepare offenses for defensive schemes.
We have a QB who is one of the best returning dual threats ,if not the best.

We have an offense that will focus on pace, space and quick decisions.

And if everyone is covered we finally have a QB who can run away from defenders and be a threat to take it all the way every time he takes off.

Everyone should be excited about 3rd down, 2nd down, every down.

Factor in Skill position guys who are young and hungry for the most part and we have to be encouraged.

Anyone who is pessimistic about this season is truly a mope or is drinking the Corona Kool-aid.
