Great Rousseau story

I think our DEs are the most dominant we have had in years. If we can get any kind of push in the middle, it's going to be a good year on that side of the ball. I'm still waiting for Miller to get more than 5 snaps a game.

I don’t know guys .... GR was awesome in 2019 but let’s not get overhyped and let things play out.

CIS is famous for overhyping players and then goes into full meltdown mode when said player has the “Sophomore slump”.

On paper it appears GR and Roche are the 1-2 knockout punch combo we’ve been needing but lots of other players on D need to play at a high level for them to be effective.

Remember a dominant pass rush only happens with high caliber LB and backfield players locking down running and pass plays.

if the LB and secondary don’t do that— GR and Roche aren’t going to get sacks or rushes.

...then we’ll spend all 2020 *****in’ that they suck and didn’t deliver.

It’s not really hype they’re both proven monsters, one won conference player of the year the other had 15.5 sacks in a season in which he didn’t start every game.

The part of my comment you are missing is:

“Remember a dominant pass rush only happens with high caliber LB and backfield players locking down running and pass plays.

2 guys don’t make a defense....

Our LB and Secondary don’t have much talent or experience or star ratings... by all appearances these units are unproven and are known weakness— especially secondary.

If we play a good air-raid/pass-happy team we are gonna get lit up...

GR and Roche wouldn’t even have time to make to the QB....

So all the early applause for these guys are not deserved because they won’t produce unless the other units show us something special.

I truly think we have the best DL in the nation. I think we followed the Clemson blue print. They never had amazing DBs and yet have been elite on D. I think we could be similar to that this year.

Gurvan and bubba are solid, the corners are average compared to our opponents, McCloud is a solid LB, Brooks has potential to be very good. Where is our weakness that won’t allow us to rush the passer?😂

Only about 450 snaps played, yielding 41 QB pressures and 14 sacks pre-bowl game... I'll buy any GR15 stock you're selling.

Perfect post. Couldnt have said it better. Seen many a great d line get schemed right out of the game by good offensive coaches.

Dude was 2nd in the nation in sacks last year to Chase Young, you literally cant overhype him at this point.

The infamous "Sophomore slump" is often a case of a player not catching teams by surprise like they had the year prior - everyone will know who Rousseau is this season, he'll get a lot of attention in offensive schemes.
