love this part on al's sales pitch -

What is your sales pitch to any of Georgia’s top 2015 prospects who may be considering Miami? “It’s one of the most unique places in college football. There’s very few places that bring the combination of a top 40 small private education, and couple that with really one of the greatest football traditions in America – more national championships that anybody in the last 30 years. We’ve played for more than anybody. We’ve had as many guys in the NFL as anybody else. So that combination, plus when you look at Coral Gables and the surrounding communities that provide all the amenities of a small-college town — plus you have culture and diversity that only a world-class city like Miami can bring. There are very few places in college football that can afford a young person that type of college experience. That’s what I would say. You can spend four years at a school, or you can experience it. At the University of Miami, you can experience it.”

Good article. I am all in recruiting elsewhere. So many of our greats came for other states. Plus, it is stupid to sit back and let others come down here a cherry pick while left unmolested in their backyards. As we win more, the little outposts in other states from our efforts will lead to ability to threaten for top recruits in GA, LA, AL and other places. Where would FSU be today without the Rapist from AL? Bama's two time NC QB grew up a Cane fan. Think AJ could have made a difference down here? He is the typical Cane NC QB. So Fl might be the best place for talent, but it is not the only place.

Good to get exposure in major talent hotbeds like ATL. Cherry pick a few from down there each year.

When did the AJC become the positive hometown paper of the Hurricanes?

**** you Herald!

Year in and year out Georgia produces top high school talent....if we keep winning it's ours for the taking. Because god knows Ga Tech isn't a threat haha. However, Georgia is a threat and with a former Canes player in Mark Richt as their coach, they have been cherry-picking south florida for years. First get the Dogs out of South Florida...specifically American Heritage....then give them a piece of their own medicine and slowly but surely secure some of their top talent. Go Canes!

You've lost your mind if you think Georgia is ours for the taking. Alabama, Auburn, FSU, LSU, Florida, etc. are raping that state because it's in the middle of SEC country. Canes has very little influence up there.

i don't think he suggested it was ours for the taking. its just a place we can cherry pick some talent. is south florida ever going to be Georgia or alabama's for the taking? no..but they still recruit here and occasionally pull a few guys.

You don't think he suggested it even though he specifically said so?...Ok.

Meant to cherry-pick, my words got twisted. My apologies.

Miami should have a bit of presence in any metro area. Kids that have grown up in Atlanta aren't going to feel at home out in the sticks anymore than a kid from Miami would be. They can get some of those kids with the right pitch.
