You seem to have skipped over that whole "Chief Revenue Officer" portion.

That's OK, **** happens.

I assure you, knowing what I know about the organization and people, he has handled more than "media", whatever you seem to think that "media" entails or is limited to.

In defense of my ADD reading skillz, it does say "Chief Media and Revenue Officer." :)

I greatly appreciate your input. Thanks.

Please help me/us gain an understanding of how you came to that opinion.
The ******* response- anybody TOC pushes has to be a *****.

Are they going to allow him to be a full fledged AD- or just a media negotiator?

It's all good. And I added to my earlier post to be clear that it was not a criticism of you, just that it's hard to describe how important (but vague and broad) the "media" jobs are at NASCAR.

When I worked there, they had a thing called "NASCAR University" where you would get to take classes or go out and shadow people during events. Once I signed up for a session that involved a lot of the technical aspects of "scoring" and the "black boxes" inside of the front bumpers that were used to collect crash data for analysis. I figured it would help me putting together the Research & Development tax credit presentation, and it was amazing.

Again, as I pointed out earlier, in the areas of the TV contracts, sponsorship, and NIL deals, he will be overqualified for our AD job.

On a personal note, given how proprietary NASCAR is, I would hope that we could move away from using "Legends" to do all the things that UM employees and/or graduate students could do better. Keep in mind that International Speedway Corporation (we owned 12 racetracks) was merged into NASCAR a few years ago, but at ISC we had our own ticketing system (formerly called racetickets.com which now redirects to nascar.com/tickets). I also just checked the website and it covers the SMI tracks as well. I don't want to bore anyone, but instead of using TicketMaster, we would use our own system and keep the ticket fees for ourselves.

Just wanted to provide some perspective when I make a post that RIPS our current Athletic Department setup. I am not "just" complaining about our system, I also know that there are alternate systems which work just as well, if not better.

And this is why you are a moron.

"Media negotiator"? The conferences negotiate the big media deals.

But thanks for a really well-thought-out response.

And here comes the princess crying again- no way this guy should be anywhere close to hiring coaches- he is a one trick pony, which makes him a step above you. Miami can do much better than some NASCAR media nerd.

I'm not "crying". You are entitled to your ignorant moronic opinions.

As for the rest, you are clueless. That's the only reason I'm responding to a dip**** such as yourself, because you know absolutely nothing about this situation.

You mean like us moving to another conference- like that? And this guy knows as much about college athletics as you do- which ain’t a high bar to get over. Now I know he’s a friend of the princess- but that doesn’t mean he’s qualified.

And FSU is considering hiring Derrick Brooks
Now I know some of these posters will laugh at FSU for hiring a black guy instead of the Lilly White guy from NASCAR- but Brooks is cutting his teeth at USF- an actual college with collegiate athletics.

I think @TheOriginalCane point was, Miami believes the traditional AD role tasks are already handled. This may/may not prove correct.

What is missing is the right personality to navigate the $$$$$$$$$ media rights/marketing landscape that Joe E has long stated is a critical element to big time college athletics.

I'm not certain the USF gato gets this done.

Does the princess need you running interference on this?

lol at Peter Pan thinking that AD’s hire coaches in today’s era of college athletics

Oh, so now it's about race.

Thanks for telling us what you're about.

oh c'mon friend...I'm.not running interference, just a legitimate observation...

so again...what does USF guy bring to table? Why is this NASCAR guy not a good fit for Miami then?
We’re friends? Sounds promising.

I can’t fully answer- but your princess laughed at FSU reportedly interested in a black candidate.

For starters - My man is currently working in the collegiate athletics environment. The Lilly White guy is not. Plus he’s friends with the princess- so that is a huge red flag.

The Lilly White guy offers up nothing we can’t find currently in college. You can guarantee he will be looking to leave soon after arriving. We can and should aim higher.

I get it - Miami is doing their due diligence - but this wimp ain’t it.
