Anyone know why we have a compliance office completely separate from the football / athletic dept? Is it bc of the nevin scandal? No other schools seem to be this harsh. Notre Dame kids just did far worse and slap on wrist for most of them

Now understand it's the right thing to do, but cmon we are playing checkers once again

Is this is a serious question?
And your thread title is stupid.

all schools have a compliance office that operates independently of the football team or is suppose to. the football coaches shouldn't and hope no school lets them influence the compliance department. when coaches control that that's when teams end up in hot water,

a compliance department looks into all violations of ncaa rules not just for football or basketball but all sports, again it should be separate from the athletic department so as to have no bias,

as for nd that's not a compliance issue. that is a legal one which coaches have much more control over, if a player gets in legal trouble the coach decides what punishment he gets, a compliance office only deals with issues that violate ncaa rules on things like unfair benefits.

First of all ND dismissed the starting safety that tussled with the police officer the others are pending.

Getting arrested is not an ncaa violation. Accepting impermissible benefits is.

Well plenty of schools handle issues in house.... We let some little dip**** transcend everyone else and make final say? Should be some checks and balances. You suspend these guys four games, they are still high draft picks. Off the team? uFA. Arbitrary penalty cost them millions...

IMO the only thing that cost them millions is themselves.

Continually amazed at the stupidity coming out of the woodwork.

It baffles me that people are really this stupid. I mean if today has proven anything, it's the lack of basic reasoning skills and intelligence of so many porsters.

People can't really be this stupid, can they?
