Getting Baxa’d

This is one of the times where I actually agree with making a thread singling out a player.

Baxa's kicking is basura, no 2 ways about it & the difference between people overreacting to Garvin & a thread like this is that Garvin 100% without doubt will play better & produce as the season progresses... Baxa on the other hand is just simply not happening.

Teams in the NFL cut their kickers sometimes on a weekly basis, obviously we can't do that here, but we need to seriously consider other options because unless we step up our Red Zone offense we cannot afford to rely on Baxa to get us FG's from even within the 30-40yd range.

We have 2 other Kickers on the team both are Walk-ons, but we should see what they got in practice this week. I don't think the staff is going to go to another Kicker, but it's seriously become a liability & could cost us games down the line.

Could?? My bro it's already cost us games looool

He wasn't perfect but he was generally accurate, especially for a freshman. I figured he would improve, as almost every kicker does over time but I was wrong. I'll take the L for assuming Baxa was gonna get better.
Hopefully manny either gives thE other kickers a chance or hits the portal/juco rout for next year

I believe we have a kicker commit for next season. Supposedly one of the better ones but so was Baxa so....🤷‍♂️

Actually Baxa would have missed gators extra point.. watch Kentucky come back

Talk about a team getting screwed. UK DT sacked UF and got ejected for targeting on UFs drive to take lead late. Their helmets literally brushed ear holes on the hit. Awful call.

I have never been a Baxa fan seeing him live at the Kohl's kicking Showcase. This kid was a boomer on kickoffs, but never great on accuracy. If he were in another program he would strictly be a kickoff specialist.

My son was a kicker and I watched the game with him. During XPs he told me that twice he saw Jack Spicer place the ball on the hold with laces in. That is a speed of snap to quick hold technique issue. Getting it wrong is a recipe for disaster. I never saw any technique work done during fall or during warm ups. You can thank the great Todd Hartley for this special.

Our current commit Borregales (2021) is legit. https://247sports.com/player/andres-borregales-46058603/

If I am Manny I would hire this local guy as a consultant to help out Baxa

If that would’ve been Baxa the holders head would’ve been going wide right.

Baxa was NEVER one of the better ones.He was 50% in HS and all his hype came from him winning some kickers camp.

Thing with kicking camps is there’s no rush,no pressure or anything on the line. You miss,oh well try again.

Not sure why anyone expected more than just an average or less than average kicker looking at his past history.

As Dennis Green would say” he is what we thought he was”.

I would have made the kickoff team go offsides or delay of game about 3 times for every extra point to force him to kick a game like FG.

With Baxa it was all about his leg strength coming out of HS. Richt probably was eager to have someone that was gonna boot it into the end zone and hit from distance, actual HS results be damned.

We’ve got to find a solution here unfortunately whether it comes to trying one of the walk ons shorter kicks, or actually going for it on some 4th and mediums/longs that we’d otherwise be kicking on.

Can't be worse than Baxa. We need to roll someone else out for extra point and fg asap. Baxa can kick off as he actually does that well.

I don't think a lot of the highly recruited kickers typically have great numbers in hs, i could be wrong

The kid needs to see a sports psychologist. And odds suggest he'll probably COST Miami another close game. OUCH. Be it a conference road or home game.

Yes they should have just went for it on that 4th and 1. And if he was dead set on a field goal how about pick a play that runs to the middle of the field and if you pick up the first, great but if you don’t atleast you helped you kicker out by putting the ball in the middle of the field. Smh that’s was a corching move by ole stoops

How about when he passed on the field goal earlier in a much lower pressure situation? Turned it over on downs. coRching.

According to the recruiting services Baxa was a top 10 kicker in the nation. He was offered by a bunch of top programs. I didn't make this up for fun.

It's been written here before, but worth stating again. With all the Latino soccer talent in Florida, there has to be someone who can make the transition to American football kicking. I might feel a little more at ease if UM's place kicker had a Hispanic name. Lots of Brazilians in SoFlo. Any of them interested in American football and a scholarship to UM? There has to a soccer player better than Baxa.
