Straight up HC trade between the Jets and Crocs? That would be awesome.
Honestly, the best case scenario for everyone involved is UF signing Mullen to a 10-year extension, with a $100 million buyout. The Jets avoid hiring a not elite CFB HC, and the CFB world gets a Florida program that's stuck at 8-4/9-3 for the next decade. CFB nirvana.
A crying shame. Deserved at least 10 more years with that wonderful organization.![]()

There's a top tier for CFB coaches that hasn't really changed in the past few years. That tier is comprised of Dabo, Day, Jimbo, Saban, Reily, and Urban. Second Tier slightly bigger, and is a revolving door of coaches depending on the year (e.g. Bryan Kelly). Mullen in his best years is a second-tier coach, most of the time he's a high-level third tier.Right? These people thinking Mullen is a good coach after one season with literally a worse record than we have is absolutely baffling. The guy has done nothing in his career as an HC besides being complicit in ******** over a bunch of kids and whoring his wife out to players.
Dude is a lot closer to Ron Zook than Urban Meyer.

Completely agree that he's way closer to Ron Zook than Urban. That's a good comparison. Better than Muschamp, McElwain, and Zook, but nowhere close to Urban.

That's true, for all of Zook's issues, the roster he handed over to Urban in 2005 was pretty loaded. Just wasn't a good coach. All the guys that really did terrific this year on their O were also McElwain recruits that Mullen inherited (Trask, Toney, etc.; though Pitts and Grimes were all Mullen).Mullen is a worse recruiter than all those guys you mentioned. Much worse.
UFailure is about to pay for his poor unbalanced recruiting

Also, on a completely different topic, but on point to this thread, Gase has been a dead man walking since last year.
It's pretty amazing when you think about how Texas and Michigan can't get their act together. Michigan being more inexplicable than Texas. Texas is a program that's won 1-national championship in 51 years (Richard Nixon was President when they won their second most recent). They're nowhere close to as dominant as they should be considering their money or their history. They're like a poor mans Notre Dame. Same with Michigan, albeit they want to continue the insanity by potentially extending Harbaugh.Completely agree with this. It's also why you have a consolidation of power among a few major schools. CFB is ALL ABOUT RESOURCES anymore, and the divide between the haves and have-nots is growing at an increasingly fast pace. Makes it all that much more astonishing places like Texas and Michigan can't get their acts together.
I really think in our lifetimes (15-20 years or so) what we know as P5 will be about 32 schools. The big four programs are gonna start consistently beating the nobody's by 100+.

I do think that UF just isn't an issue moving forward, under the huge assumption we get our house in order.

Funny thing is about Mullen, he's known to be one of the ****iest coaches in CFB. Literally lost out on our job in 2010 and 2015 because he was so arrogant in the 2010 interview. Not to mention the excuses he makes for every loss.Exactly what I've been saying about him. It's much easier to win with other people's recruits than it is to build and manage a culture of your own. Everytime I see Dan Mullen I really just wanna take his lunch money.
