So the OC of an undefeated team is going to leave and come to this ****tshow? Why dont we just go after Sean payton....he is not doing anything

I think that many posters on this board still don’t get the fact that when Mario said that part of him coming here was them giving him full control over everything in the football program, it included the offensive philosophy and scheme.

How can anyone in their right mind ever think that passing up on Brady, Briles and Candela in favor of Gattis would be a wise move?

All off-season this was the biggest fear of a big part of the fan base, yet we were told time and time again that we were panicking for no reason, and that Gattis would be running a modern, high-powered offense that would be balanced.

This abomination of an offense is an atrocity on all levels.

If we really passed up on all those guys then we tanked the whole season when this could have been an 11-1 situation over here.

I wonder what Mario thinks about this:

rumor was Gattis was like his 3rd to 4th option. besides what decorated OC would have came here w/ the HC telling you who your QB coach and OL coach will be? Gattis probably was the only one that agreed to those terms

Someone mentioned Chip Kelly was first pulled from like D3, with the kinda money we are spending on OC we can get an innovative guy in here, the key is Mario deciding to do it. Might even be able to get a proven guy without dipping down.

Are the Joe Brady/Briles rumors true? If so, then we know he's open to other types of offense.

Then this would be even worse, and even more evidence of Mario’s incompetence and ego.

He did the whole process backwards in his search for an OC. It would explain why no top flight OC wanted to come here without getting to choose all of their offensive staff.

I’ve said it before, one of Mario’s biggest flaws is that he wants to micro-manage everything. Most of the time, that’s not a good thing.

If he ever accepts the fact that he’s a great recruiter and talent evaluator, and steps away from trying to control offensive scheme and philosophy, he then will have a chance to succeed at a high level.
