Since when are “Garbage Time Touchdowns” even a thing in football? At what point is a touchdown actually supposed to be considered garbage?
If a team is winning 35–0 and scores to make it 42–0… is that garbage? Or if a team is up by 50 and keeps scoring, are those all “garbage time touchdowns”? I’ve honestly never heard people call them that in college football like it’s some official metric. The whole thing sounds dumb.
And how do you call a touchdown to stretch a lead from 10 to 17 or from 14 to 20 a garbage touchdown? Those aren’t garbage, those are put-away touchdowns. You’re closing the door. There’s still a defense trying to stop you. Nobody’s walking into a free touchdown just because the clock says so.
