Game 44: Cal 4/26/26. 4-1 W (32-12)

How at 32-12 with 12-9 ACC are the Canes not in the top 25.

Schedule has been *** lately. But they did what they’ve had to do in the last 6 weeks.

Cal
Stanford
Wake
Virginia Tech
Clemson
Creighton

That’s the last 6 weekend series. Open, smelly ***. 5 of the ~7 worst teams in the league. But again, they did what they had to do. Won all 6.

Now we get real. NC State, Louisville, FSU. All 3 of those are better than any of the 6 teams we’ve just played. Go win those 3 series and we might have something.

Or, win 2 of 3 and somehow finish 4th in the ACC, and we should at least be in the hosting discussion.

I wanted to share some thoughts on the current state of the ACC. In this conference, there really are no "bad" teams. You only have to look at what happened with Florida State against a supposedly "weak" Stanford team to see that.

I remember when we lost to BC and it felt like the world was ending, but they have been ranked for a month now, proving they weren't that bad after all. Our team is good; we have weaknesses like any other team, of course, but we are battling and we will compete against anybody.

The Needs Report is finally running, but it’s only for a limited number of teams that doesn’t include us. I’m still eyeballing an RPI in the 20s with 18 conference wins on Warren Nolan’s predicted results. Might need a run in the ACC tournament and/or winning a 7th ACC game in the regular season on top. The FIU game getting rained out would probably do wonders though.

I’ve been saying this since the Florida series. And some of the softy’s on here called me several names because I wasn’t a homer instead I was objective to what was on the field and who we played.

Ya, 20's RPI alone seems like it won't be enough. Top 16 seeds the last few years have almost always been Top 20 RPIs as I recall.

I think wake forest is the best team out of that bunch but the idea that two out of three versus sweeps makes that much of a difference I don’t know. I’ve been following college baseball for a long time and I still don’t understand how that works.
