Game 20: Duke 3/15/26. 20-10 L (14-6)

At least with Shannon he had some pedigree and you could see the rationale behind the hire. There was zero reason to hire JD. Hire the pitching coach when subpar starting pitching has been the program's biggest problem for years? Good idea.
Might not be a popular take here but I honestly thought he was underwhelming as a DC. Nice guy, good Cane.. but totally inept at adjusting mid-game.

But yeah JD was a lazy, uninspired, trash hire.

Typical Miami non-sense.

We are talking about Tate

Tate is not a starting caliber pitcher at Miami

He belongs as a relief pitcher

It’s JD fault for continuing to start him

Me: Tate would be better under literally anybody because JD sucks

You: Wahhhh Tate sucks. We need to recruit better.

Me: We continually bring top 10 recruiting classes. The problem is JD. Tate, himself, was recruited by other P5 programs.

You: Impossible. Tate sucks *Puts up PG profile proving he was a P5 level player.

Me: I laugh at you for proving my point by posting a PG that proves that and then ask you to explain to me why pitching Sensai JD couldn’t even develop a dude like Alejandro Rosario?

You: It finally *clicked* (which proves my point) and try to deflect by saying I think they have the same talent level which I never said.

Keep yelling at trees old man. They’ll yell back eventually.

If they want a Miami dude then call Joe Urso and give him what he would want. Find my a candidate with a better resume than him.

gets pulled after .1 innings today

He’s NEVER been a Miami caliber weekend starter.

JD is an idiot for continuing to put him out there

you’re the one saying he would be throwing 97 at UF under Sully which shows you don’t know a **** thing

You can yell through the keyboard all you want. You’ll still be the one denying we have a development problem.

Theres an everything problem under JD, it’s not just development, it’s talent, it’s managing. It’s evaluating

Tate has NO business being a starter at Miami has been my point from the start

Do you follow this program at all??

We continuously finish within the top ten of recruit classes in baseball with our current incoming class being #6 in the country.

We beat out top tier schools all over the country. The problem has always been the staff and its more apparent than ever because we’ve dumped more money into this program the last 3 years than we have in the last decade, keeping more kids home.

It’s not a talent issue. It’s a JD issue. Place Chris Pollard here with the same roster and we’re probably a top 20 team in the country.
I follow the team. I agree with you across the board for the most part. My whole argument was that Derias isn’t very good. He might be one good one day, but right now he isn’t. That’s it. I also think JD is in over his head. Our team is good enough talent wise to win most ACC series, yet we don’t.

Time to rip the bandaid with JD dude was given his dream job after his drinking buddies begged and pounded the table.

I’m sure Rad couldn’t pass up a free salary and guaranteed NIL contributions by hiring him. Too bad JD who I’m sure loves Miami isn’t meant for the job

The alarms for me rang when we couldn’t get past Boston ******* college the worst team coming into the year.

Imagine if Pollard would have taken the reigns of the program???
He wasn't good enough for Miami...but good enough for UVA to hire him with open arms.
I cringe every time I see us go to the bullpen... We all have to remember that it's only mid-March. It's only going to get worse in my opinion.

Clemson up in two weeks. Anyone else dislike the way JD removes our pitchers? No eye contact no nothing just sticks his hand out for the ball. Show the guys you care about them. Just me.

Do we need to go over how many top 10 defenses he had while as a DC (yes I'm biased as a fellow Norland alumnus, but the numbers do speak). As the DC/LB coach, people literally feared Miami's LB corps nearly every year he was here.

By all means, defend away. Big East. Insane talent. What has he done since? Did he forget how to coach? I feel like Tight Ends are still running wide open against us...

He was a great CANE. He didn't adjust to the new age, he hasn't done anything successful since he became a HC except:
Have a top 3 pass defense in 2010 and being the Co-DC for 2 top 10 ranked UF defs in 2015+2016 (they fell off a cliff when he became the actual DC in 2017).

But as a DC, in Miami, all 6 seasons (sans 1) we were top 7 nationally. All those 8-5 stats without an offensive TD, has to be credited to the DC at some point, including never truly worrying about the defense crashing for years. Never really worried about having trash LBs. As a DC, year in and out, people feared us. Meanwhile, OSU just failed to win a Natty against Carson Beck despite having a super talented defense as well. He earned his stripes from 2001-2006, even if he sucked after that.
