Game 1 stand outs

I believe that's the drive where Moore caught it over the middle and both backers shied away from contact while looking small. He'd then bust out the spin move shortly thereafter.

• passing offense is elite, as good as if not better than 2024 with Cam
• we might have two heisman candidates in December with Mensah and Toney
• pass blocking looked great
• DL was stout and got good pressure while being held virtually every down

• OJ going down will test our secondary depth with jaboree out

• for a game 1 special teams did fine minus the damari brown play that was overturned

It was great seeing the Canes play again, not play with our food and get a comfortable W going all the way across the country. The coaches now get some real film and will have to address and improve run blocking and the overall coverage scheme.

Update: and I forgot to add, very few overall penalties which was a good early sign

Having very few penalties was a pleasant surprise. We need to keep that up.

Agree regarding SJ and Buchanan. They did not play well. However I noticed the difference whenever Jackson Cantwell got into the game. Cantwell needs to play more. Samson was excellent and McCoy was very good. Rodriguez needs to get it together as far as those high snaps go.

During the game I was very disappointed in the play of the secondary. With the talent, experience and coaching we have, I expect better. Still it was game 1 and since the game got out of hand fairly quickly we just sat back in zone. Still, if we are going to play zone I expect us to be much more effective in it.

Our LBs continue to be a huge liability in the passing game.

Our DL was dominant vs both the run and the pass. Stanford was doing things that made it difficult for our DL to get home but they couldn't stop holding us lol.

This passing game is the definition of elite. Darian Mensah is that guy. Malachi Toney is that guy. Our WRs are indeed deep.

I have a feeling about one of the RBs but I'm going to keep it to myself for now.

Dawson called a masterful game.
