The comments from Peter Ariz on today's show about Cam Ward were absolutely disgusting. Cam Ward was the best quarterback we've had in 20 years—a Heisman trophy finalist, the number one pick in the draft—and you expect fans to give credit to *checks notes* Shannon Dawson!? Is it all about the Jimmys and Joes or not?

(Pete, we were at UM at the same time, nothing against you personally, but I've had it with the Cam Ward hate)

We've been in close games all season because this offense can't put any team away. Let's pretend Carson Beck is as good as everyone on the Wednesday show talked him up to be in the preseason, then who else besides Dawson should we blame for the way the offense has stalled out in every game besides USF? You start to run out of people to place the blame on. Let's be rational, nuanced, you say!? Very well, the offensive failures fall on everyone: a highly penalized offensive line, the lack of a third receiver, the quarterback, the offensive coordinator, the head coach and the O-line coach for their conservative run scheme? Guess what! Nearly all of these things existed last year. We were a highly penalized team last year, and the receivers, according to Pete, were less talented, and we still had the number one offense in the country. THAT was Cam Ward.

Dawson has said this himself many times—when he called the wrong play for the moment last year, Ward could make him right and did so countless times. That first drive against Florida last year was sustained by Ward breaking the pocket and picking up first downs with his legs. Florida's defense had won the rep, and then they hadn't. Beck does not have that ability. Which leads me to my next point.

There's a lie, likely multiple lies/flaws on our team that we're overlooking. If the offensive line is so good, why are we so afraid to put four and five receivers on the field and throw the ball downfield? Check out RO's Student of the Game. It seems pretty clear that Louisville knew every time we went into an empty set, we were throwing a quick pass. Who don't we trust? The offensive line? The quarterback? If our offensive line is so good, then why is widening the splits just a little and diversifying the run game completely out of the question? Either the players aren't as good as we/the coaches, have hyped them up to be, or Mario's conservatism is sucking the life out of our offense.

And another thing, you know what happened after we got a false start penalty and wound up in 3 & 15 last year? Cam Ward and Restrepo made a play and completely wiped away the mistake. Comparing Carson Beck to Cam Ward might be a form of mania. How many times did Ward drive 60, 70, even 80 yards down the field for a touchdown last year? He was playing against the other team's defense AND our defense. Even with his horrible interceptions against Duke and Cal, Carson Beck already has the same number of interceptions as Ward had all of last year.

I like your commitment to the Boss' phrase: Game Aint Based On Sympathy.

I'm seeing a lot of sympathy pushed in Beck and Dawson's direction
and hate being sent Ward's way.

Cam Ward had the greatest QB season here, and in my opinion, is the greatest QB we ever had with that season we saw.

Now as to who is to blame for the run scheme? “The HC and O-line coach” the way it runs at UM from what I’m told.

Pete said Beck would be better than Ward prior to season.. :ibis-roflmao-sm3: I think he got issues with giving him credit for whatever reason lol..

Both sides can take credit but comparing NFL as #1 pick on obviously a flawed team seems like such a reach, even if the kid is on spectrum D$ got to reel him in some..

Do you know what’s disgusting? You claiming that Ward is our best QB in the last 20 years? That’s only as far as you’re going back? 20 years? To 2005?

Too long a read for my limited attention span,

Too long for my attention span, but the notion of last year’s receivers being less talented is wrong. Restrepo plus two other solid WRs, plus a fourth with speed. Also forget that the group included an excellent receiving TE with speed.

Interesting first porst from alt account.

With that said, at some point players have to execute what's called and that clearly, on some level, isn't happening to a painful degree.

And it's been that why for a while now.

Yes Cam Ward was an amazing player, and so can Carson Beck in his own right.

One succeeding doesn't equate to the other failing.

Cam Ward. Let’s see three schools number one pick in the draft. Good for him. What did he do for the U ? No conference championship, no playoff berth and a bowl loss cause he only played a half, his way of thanking the U for what the U did for him. He did nothing for the U.

I heard Pete say Dawson and Cristobal deserve some credit for Cam. He wasn’t a projected first round pick leaving WSU, one year later he went 1st overall.

Mario secured Cam to come to Miami and Dawson’s offense combined with Cams talent created the best QB in Miami history. People reading way too much between the lines

Losses bring out the worst in some fans

I don't think some people appreciate at all the giant difference between Qbs creating in chaos and Qbs executing when everything is perfect.

I'm so interested and this is something 13:22 that u popped up when Marcus was talking the other day like when he started talking about Cam Ward the look on his face was just like holy crap that guy is good and I think it's like and I say that in the sense of like obviously he's not there but he made a lot like something out of nothing a lot last year. Carson Beck's not going to make something out of nothing. So, I think that the the sort of offscript part of Miami's offense last year that was really fun to watch, like that's not there anymore.

So, I I think that's sort of been lost a little bit on like the new receivers and Carson Beck who's got all the experiences like you're replacing the number one overall pick in the draft who was just like kind of a magician. Um, how does Miami's offense continue on? do they lose sort of that get, you know, we talked about the get out of jail free card with Riley Leonard uh running the ball on third and whatever, fourth and whatever. You know, Cam Ward was a get out of jail free card on every **** play. So that I'm interested to show you see like if Miami gets off script like can they get back on it?

Oh, give me a ******* break

Everyone and their mother knew Ward was only playing a little bit of the first half and that Miami wanted to get to evaluate Williams later. Most people in his position didn’t even Play a ******* down for their teams.

I could give two ***** about a ******* pop tart unless it’s in my breakfast

OP should have been more efficient and taken the check down...

Kinda hard to believe he said that… listened to practically every pod all year and that would have stuck out.

Mario provided Cam the best offensive line he’s ever played behind. That’s where the credit to anyone other than Cam stops, for the season he had.

**Im not discrediting how important that was, but nobody else in college football would have done what he did, had they been our QB last year.
