jacksonville more white trash than palatka? or gainesville for that matter

that guys been reading the news and watching channel 4 news too much. Sure the northside of jacksonville is a joke, just like every city has a joke side of it. But the southside, san jose avenue, the beaches, anywhere between orange park and the beaches for that matter which is a HUGE area is white picket fences, bass boats, big bass boats, bigger bass boats, and soccer moms galore.

even the south west and some parts of the west side are quite nice

I found this quite stunning though, "In fact, 3 in 10 members of the Miami community earns less than what the government defines as a livable income: $25,000 for a family of 4."

25k is a livable income for FOUR people?

I went ahead and highlighted in red the areas of Florida that aren't completely infested with white trash, hope it helps.

Trailerhassee & Hogtown....couldn't agree more. :zcZKQmRItjDsoaq.jpg

So I live in Jacksonville now and the sad part is I agree. However the explanation is easy why we are number one... We have a ton of Gator and Seminole fans that live here!!!

Gainesville is only 5th is aggravated assaults? Jim McElwain isn't holding up to the high standards set by Urban Meyer.

Sounds like y'all need a semenhole and gaturd exterminator

Pull out a map of Florida and draw a straight line from Daytona Beach to Ocala to the Gulf of Mexico.

Just about everything to the north and and northwest of there is about as "Deep South" as it gets in America.

North Florida has a LOT more in common with Alabama and Georgia than it does with the central or southern portions of our state.

Where is San Jose Avenue? Blvd, maybe??

White picket fences between Orange Park and the beaches? LOL, guess you missed the Regency area, Mayport, University Blvd (most areas)... not to mention downtown. Come on, I live outside of Jax, and Canesville and Trailerhassee are much worse, but you sound like the Chamber of Commerce propping up the area. Just wait for the monster trucks to come to town or the Fl/Ga game and check out the crowd, then talk to me about white trash in Jax. Love the area, but we are guilty as charged, just not to the highest extent.

I grew up in mandarin, sure the WHOLE ***ing area isn't beautiful, but you ride down SR-13 and you can go as far as 30 ***ing miles south before you stop seeing mansions on the st. johns river

**** in julington creek, not even a mile past fruit cove, it is literally one million dollar mansion after another. Julington creek itself is a stunning plantation made up of A level schools

it's been a while since I lived there unfortunately, so yes I meant san jose blvd.. that entire area is nothing but $$$

mayport is WAY north and out of the area I'm talking about. University, I'll give you that although it's certainly not white trash like the article makes it out to be and I wouldn't hesitate to go for a jog through there any night for that matter. If you think any of those other areas are nearly as white trash or even as ghetto as gainesville or palatka then I would suggest a sight seeing tour.

**** regency, arlington those areas aren't even that far from the st. johns town center ( google it if you don't know )

there's no way jville even belongs on that list, monster trucks are gonna bring rednecks out of the woodworks even if it's in new york city

I said I live in the area, have for years, so I know it well. Also said we are guilty as charged, just not to the extent that the article says. If you are going to include Julington Creek Plantation into Jax, then you cannot exclude Orange Park. Orange Park itself puts Jax in the top 10 in some cases, as well as some parts of the Southside. You also cannot say Mayport is too far North, because it is part of the city. You are trying to select parts of your hometown to defend it's honor, and turning a blind eye to the parts that are a direct result of it being on the list.

Yes, the St. Johns Town Center area is nice (as well as many other part of Jax), but Regency, Arlington, Sandlewood, all close by are not the Town Center.

Jacksonville is growing up, but it has a way to go. Personally I love where I live and have no plan on moving, unless progress make the area lose it's appeal. Actually I wish they would keep the small town feel here.
