As OL coach? Sure. But he's never called plays before, so no thank you.

He comes straight off the Mike Leach tree, which has had tons of coaches with success. What's better is he also learned from Lincoln Riley about a run oriented Air Raid (Bedenbaugh also takes care of the OL issues as he is one of the best in the biz). I'd roll the dice on Bedenbaugh as he has the pedigree (coaching tree) for success despite not calling plays.

A coach can be a long time playcalling OC and be a failure, so the fact that a guy has called plays yet shouldn't be the overriding factor. Case in point- our current OC has well over a decade of playcalling experience and has won a national championship as an OC. How's that working out?

Miami isn't signing Kendal Briles. So who is next? I'd put Yost slightly ahead of Bedenbaugh (Yost is As good with QBs as Bedenbaugh is with OL). Bedenbaugh would probably cost less than Yost at this point (Yost is going to be in demand) and we know for a fact that coaches from the Mike Leach tree have had lots of success.

Bedenbaugh wants to call plays now, and if we don't sign him, so some other team with both balls and foresight will sign him (because they understand the metrics)
We will end up with some weak OC from the Ivy League, while yet another Leach disciple puts up video game numbers and we spend another three years b#tching about how Miami missed on an opportunity because the BOT only cares about academics or some other nonsense excuse.

You are literally responding to a dunce. Dude just like to hear himself talk.

All our great QB's had unique talents and we were fortunate that the coaches they had realized their talent, for example...Bernie was a great pre-snap QB whereas Vinny was superman, Torettta was one tough dude that got hammered but made plays, Walsh was accurate but did not have that super strong arm but made play after play. We have coaches we need teachers who recognize the talent of each player.
