Makes sense. Then again, it makes sense to give your guy a pre-snap read that tells him where to go with the ball.

In the end I'd say do whichever works better for the QB in question.

Quarterbacks who read coverages before the play are known as draft picks.

So are qbs that can’t read coverage
U get drafted off of physical tools and skill sets

Mariota is a classic example
So is Tebow
Both first round guys who I doubt was reading coverage
U think Daba had Watson doing that?

I honestly can't believe this is even a discussion. NFL QBs read the coverage. Elite college QBs read the coverage. Motion is used to help a QB pre-snap determine what to read post-snap. It forces a D to show their hand a little.

****, I was taught how to read coverage in 9th grade on the JV team. If we make the offense any easier then we may as well tell the D what play we are going to run. I want an offense that is easy to understand/execute while complex to cover!

One of the main reasons why most high school and college teams run the spread is that it makes identifying coverages easier. Your QB looks for certain keys and usually knows where the ball is going before the snap. I am not a QB coach, or any kind of coach but I believe many spread/air raid gurus will totally disagree with this guy.

You are literally responding to a dunce. Dude just like to hear himself talk.

In these spread offenses you’re only making 1-2 reads , once again Mario Lemieux looks like a tool in this thread.

It’s even worked it’s way into the league.

The days of QBs going through all four progressions then checking it down are over. It’s all about simplifying and going fast.
