2026 Fred Sainteus on January 29--303 pounds at the U

Correct you are! Get these "Gems in the Rough" and develop them.
Indeed - this kid has hardly played any football and was not highly rated.

Would appear phyisically he has it...its early but could turn out to be another good evaluation by the staff.

I see him getting some late-game PT this year a-la Donta Simpson last year. 2027 we will see what we have.

Much deeper room this year vs last though. Moten, Scott, Blount, Davis, Carter … only after these 5 see the field will the young pups get action. As said in other threads, we need to run up the score on opponents early so we can rotate often.

You always want to land a 5 star DT, but if you don't, then stack the room with guys like Sainteus who have the physical tools & body types to develop into good & potentially great players.

Agree and I feel you need both. Make the 5 stars earn their spot and treat the projects like 5 stars if they beat them out. Perfect for winning culture.

Absolutely you're always going to try to land the Scott's & Brewster's. I really liked how last year and this year, the staff has thrown numbers at the DT spot. With Coach Lewis in place, you can have that strategy. It's like what Mario & Coach Mirabal do on the OLine, of course you want a Cantwell & CiCi, but you also take guys like Wilkerson, Bell, and Cooper that have the body type & tools to develop.

Good to see. If we end up needing him at least he's got the build to get some PT early. Don't think he will, but who knows.

good to see the growth.
