The first game of the 2026 NFL season will return in 43 days. Teams are starting their yearly training camp, where coaches can see who is impressing and which rookies are ready for their first year. According to Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay, former Miami Hurricanes wide receiver CJ Daniels has been turning heads at training camp.
"He's done a good job. He's a mature rookie. I mentioned it in the spring when we talked about it. He's mature for a rookie. You can see he's come in, no-nonsense mentality, but he enjoys football," he added. "He's a great listener, whether it's paying attention to his coaches, with Rob, with Yards, with Robert Woods, with Nate Scheelhaase. And then he's got some incredible guys to learn from. Davante Adams has such wisdom, and he's had a lot of great experiences. So it's a great group, but I'm excited about C.J."
Daniels transferred to Miami for his senior season, recording a total of 50 receptions for 557 yards and seven touchdowns. Prior to Miami, he saw snaps at LSU where he put up 480 receiving yards on 42 receptions. He originally committed to Liberty out of high school, recording 55 catches for 1,067 yards in the 2023-24 season.
During the NFL Draft Combine, he posted a 4.47 40-yard dash while also showing explosiveness off the ground with a 10’3” broad jump. This past season, he also had one of the greatest catches in college football against Notre Dame.
With Daniels impressing early at the Rams' training camp, he is already showing that he can play at the next level and is making it hard for coaches to ignore him.
