Was going to say the same thing. How long has it been since Wazzou was a factor in the PAC Fudge? I'm not a shill for Mike Leach but I think he has done yoemans work up in Pullman. I think we all get your point but it really goes without saying that there is always an element of risk involved when hiring a coach who hasn't established himself yet. To me Leach has proven what he can do and that is taking a garbage program and making it competitive and exciting. That being said I'm not sure how his style would play here. Not in terms of offense but what defense would we see under him? Is he capable of taking a decent team and making them champions? I don't know. As we all know, there is much more to being a big time head coach than running an exciting offense.

Christ, let's not pretend that no one's ever won anything at Wazzu. They finished ranked in the top 10 for 3 straight years, from 2000 to 2002. They've had moderate success in the past...more than what Leach has them at currently.

Leach has them playing decently, but let's not act like he put them on the map.

I'm not interested in Chad Morris tale of woe. People were suggesting this guy for MIAMI. A Miami level coach shouldn't go 1-9 anywhere in college.

Leach never built a program. Spike Dykes built Texas Tech before Leach got there. Leach was basically good for 1 more win per year year than Dykes was.

At Wazzu, Leach has potentially gotten a program that has had moderate success in the past back to where it once was...the 7-9 wins per year range.

At least Golden took a program that was never any good and turned them into a mediocre team. Leach can't even lay claim to that. And Golden sucks.

I agree. I think OP's original point was to highlight how we clamor for the flavor of the month while we were propping up potential coaches vs Al Golden last year.
