That is close to where I live. Brandon was a big football star (obviously) at Apopka, helped them to win the state title over a Dade team.

If you're using your head for business, the LAST business you start is a restaurant. 90% failure rate within three years across the industry.

Burning a pile of cash is at least more time efficient.

Man I loved Meriweather as a Cane wearing the #19. Still think he started playing in the league during a time where the value of a safety started depreciating.

Agree. Occasionally the stars will lineup and you will the get the cool one-off places unique to their location.
Merriweather is probably just the biggest investor. Hopefully he found one or two good owners that also have a personal passion for cooking or the industry itself.

That said, I'm not far so I might check it out.

In fact, this place looks exactly like golfer Grahame McDowell's place in Lake None just down the road in Orlando I helped open up. Nona Blue. That style is called the modern tavern look.

It's a lot less about having a "gimmick" (I know I'm using that term liberally) than it is about having good management.

The more intriguing thing is "manages rental properties," which if he is renting out properties he owns... yeah, that's what you should be doing, and something that typically provides a little leeway to take gambles like restaurants.

The Restaurant trade in Orlando isn't much to Hoot and Holler about...aside from a few really good places...I'm an Executive Corp Chef here in Central Fl....have Chef friends all over the state...However, there are a couple of places I truly treasure....

You can obviously make money in the restaurant business, but it is very hard work. Looks like he is putting in the work. Not where I would put my money now, but I may have a different look at his age.
