Five-Star Miami CB Commit Donte Wright Jumps to No. 4 Nationally

Rivals released its updated 2027 Rivals300 rankings, and Wright checked in at No. 4 overall, earning five-star status and solidifying himself as one of the top prospects in the country.

The Long Beach (Calif.) standout has been one of the fastest-rising players in the 2027 class, and this latest ranking reflects the way he’s performed against elite competition. Wright has consistently shown why he’s considered one of the nation’s top defensive backs, using his speed, and physical style of play to shut receivers.

For Miami, this is another huge win on the recruiting trail. The Hurricanes already knew they landed a special player when Wright committed, but having a top-five prospect in the country committing to the program says a lot about what Mario Cristobal and his staff are building, the future is very bright for the program.

Wright’s rise is also good news for Miami’s 2027 class. When one of the top players in the country is committed this early, other recruits take notice. He’s already become one of the faces of the class.

Even with plenty of time left before signing day, Wright has done nothing but strengthen his reputation in the country. Every rankings update and every camp seems to show what Miami saw when they landed his commitment. Moving into the top five nationally is just the latest example of why he is so good.

Miami knew it was getting an elite player when Wright committed. Now, the rest of the country is starting to see it too. With Rivals ranking him as the No. 4 overall player in the 2027 class, the Hurricanes have one of the nation’s best defensive backs locked into their recruiting class.

What happened to our other guys? Did some of them drop?
I think this is just Rivals (which is now on3 so I would use these rankings over others which is a weird marketing move but I digress) and it is their new 5* roll out.

Wright moved up 10 spots,

Nick and Bryant both dropped only 2 spots but technically are in the 5 star range (28 and 30) rivals has only released 23 5* grades but they have 32 each year.

Hall (38), Izzy (44) and Randle (57) all kept their rankings. (one could argue izzy is too low after his showing)

Woodard jumped like 100 spots and is now 68

Dawson jumped hella spots going from NR to 102

The biggest drops that I can say were a legit drop (not like 1 or 2 spots) that I saw was Noah Glover fell around 50 spots, Ty Keys dropped around 20 spots and Sean Tatum the OL dropped only 10 spots.
