I am completely befuddled by this. We routinely line up in the shotgun in short yardage situations as well as in the red zone and even inside the 10 yd line. When you consider that the OL is the strength of the team it makes even less sense. If it was something that Fisch did infrequently to catch defenses off guard then I could understand it but this has become a recurring and almost mantra like theme.why the **** are we in shotgun, line up and smash them in the mouth.
No matter how you spin it or slice it this is just not fundamentally sound football. It's pure garbage frankly.

He wants to have the advantage in the box. This simply makes it a one on one battle upfront.
So either he is smarter than most or does not get it? I think the results so far speak for themselves.

Because every time we try to go "smash mouth" we end up getting pushed back into the backfield for a 2 yard loss.
why the **** are we in shotgun, line up and smash them in the mouth.
When you find out why, let us all know.
Not to mention going to power I in the 4th and running the ball down their throat, which we should have done from the start to set up the pass.

Did we do this last year? I don't remember seeing it. I recall a willingness to get too cute at times, and to abandon the run, but not the ****** horizontal stuff and constant handoffs from shotgun.
If this is the result of contact with the Phins, that's another reason to hate that organization.
