Bubble screens, when executed properly and (as Macho pointed out in another thread) part of an RPO offense, are an easy way to gain chunks of yardage and ease a QB into a rhythm.

Bubble screens, existing independently of a cohesive playbook and called at haphazard times with no bearing on down, distance, rhythm, timing, or opponent tendencies are well-nigh useless.

I wasn't expecting the whole playbook vs FAU, so I wasn't really upset with the play calling.

Kaaya just needed to execute the gameplan which was completely vanilla, as it should have been against a much lesser opponent.

I think of it from this perspective, FSU has already had to play a tough game vs Ole Miss, App St had to play a tough game vs Tennessee, UNC had to play a tough game vs UGA & Notre Dame had to play a tough game vs Texas...
In all those games, they had no choice but to play as if it were a game that actually mattered, so that means they opened up the whole **** playbook on both sides of the ball...

What at that means for us, is we have legitimate film for every one of those opponents already for when we play them, while for us being a team playing in a brand new scheme on both Offense & Defense, our future opponents won't have any legitimate film on us until we have to play App St or GTech.

Not that it's some great advantage or anything, but I don't think we've seen a lot of what we're going to be doing on Offense, which could allow us the chance to bring out some things that are completely new that we haven't put on film yet.

1. FAU had cool uniforms

2. If D'onofrio and Golden saw our DL itd give them a heart attack

3. Nice punt block by Mcintosh

This. There's a fine line between Nix's chaotic bubble screens and Richt's bubble screens he ran at FSU.

One more nitpicky thing - technically I don't think we were running bubble screens. A bubble screen, IIRC is one where the WR cuts inside and catches the screen on the run. We were running straight-up WR screens most of the night.

Thanks for posting! I was at the game, so I hadn't seen the telecast.

Forrest Conoly may be a filthy Nole, but he gave UM serious love in that commentary. Guy seems really cool.

I think if you have PS3, PS4 or XBox, you can pull this up on the YouTube app & watch the game on a full screen TV.

Youre right. And some of them werent exactly screens
They were plays designed to isolate the wr in open field by either rubbing/picking or using a decoy to run defenders out of the area.

Just an overall upgrade in quick hitter plays.
