I refuse to start that “We Back” hype train that’s quickly derailed in a few weeks. I like this article because it keeps it real, references us not knowing when Miami will officially be back & talks about the Canes not being the hero college football wanted but being the hero that college needed during tough times when other top teams aren’t playing. Canes are lighting up & providing entertainment!

This continues the feeling of a year when all **** has broken loose but weirdly has benefited the Canes in every way, except for Greg opting out.

it's pretty obviously tongue-in-cheek. lighten up, pendejo.

Gotta see it for what it is, though .... the media loves to fatten Miami up for the slaughter; playing the "Canes are back" game, knowing that the minute UM takes a loss, they can turn the tide and say, "Welp, guess Miami isn't back!"—as if UM's press people started the narrative, not the national media.

Fact remains Miami is a polarizing national brand that is mostly-hated, but also loved by a small contingent (one that will grow as the wins pile up). It is good business for the media to play and hype the "back" card—as folks in the flyover states can't stand flashy chains and label all these kids "thugs".

And yes, we've heard this story before. Miami was back in 2009 and 2013 and 2017 -- essentially every time a reboot of Spider-Man happened -- and those all proved to be false alarms. But this time is different; it has to be.

... again, "we've" heard the story before because THE MEDIA goes there.

I don't know one level-headed Miami fan who thought the Canes were back in 2013 after eking out a 7-0 start against FSU, an eventual four-win Florida team (who turned it over a half dozen times), Savannah State, South Florida, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Wake Forest—before rising to a paper #7 and getting demolished by #1 Florida State (and losing four of the last six on the year.)

Should Miami lose to Clemson by double digits, all the "guess they're not back!" gibberish will be all the talk the week of October 12th with the sports media.

Sure, we will be mocked if Clemson blows us out like we did FSU. But Clemson is not the measuring stick on whether Miami is back on track. Let's say we lose 52-10. Then we run the table and play them again in the acc championship game and lose 52-10 again. Then play UF in a bowl game and beat them. Just because we couldn't be Clemson, that's a fraudulent season?
