Love his spirit and he can be an elite RB receiver like Duke.
But I'm not seeing him as a runner.
Is it just the line, his youth or does he just not have that special thing?
I'm hoping he develops but not sure he will.

It's dumb dive plays we run...get the kid to edge, run stretch plays...plus we have one of the worst o lines in a long time in our program's history.

I think he'll be fine once we get a new staff and get rid of majority of the old staff. The only cats I would keep is Scott and Beard.

There isn't an elite RB on our roster because that's a spot where Folden got destroyed in recruiting.

Walton is a good pass catching complementary back like Mike James. Doesn't have the burst to hit the hole like his afro is on fire. Those are the guys who tear off huge chunks.

I disagree. He has used his vision to run in bewtween the tackles when the right plays are called. Specially in the i formation.

the o-line is..well...we all know what that o line is...

OP, idk what you think of as "special thing" but he looks dynamic with the ball in his hands. he's also done a GREAT job in pass protection n saved kaaya on several occasions. even a great RB can only do so much with crappy line play. there's a myriad of examples for that. to judge him at this point is unfair IMO

Guy is a true freshman. He is a gaw**** beast imo.

Used wrong af so its hard to see his talent if you dont have any eye for it.

as stated above. Dude works better out if heavy/ power formations. Dude is dangerous with a fullback.

And a true freshman blocking the way he does is just phenomenal. He is for sure a man!

As for the line I agree that have played below average, but since they changed to a more solid line with less changes I have seen improvement. Also they are young. Not making excuses for I think they could have played better all season.

Special thing: What I saw when watching all the great Miami backs early in their careers. I'm not knocking him and hope for the best but at this point I'm not seeing him as another Duke, Portis, Gore, etc. except as a pass catcher.

I believe Walton will be a good not great back here if use him correctly, the o-line sucks this year, play calling sucks, he just true freshmen and will continue learn. So we need more time to evaluate him. I love his receiving ability tho

Solid running back, just not super yet...He had a ten yard start on Pitt DB after making a wonderful catch and got caught at the 15 yd. line..

Walton seemed to run better from formations under center with a full back. He doesn't make a lot of guys miss but is a solid receiver out the backfield. The oline didn't do him or yearby any favors though at the end of he year.

When is the last time we ran GD toss play? Our run plays are suspect, especially since everything is out of the shotgun.

Would love to even see the toss out of the shotgun instead of slow developing run plays.

Walton is most dangerous as a pass receiver and short yardage runner. He averaged under 4.0 YPC coming into today, when he averaged just 1.5 YPC on 13 attempts. That's a dreadful number for an RB in college regardless of experience.

The OL is the biggest reason for our running game's ineptitude, but we also don't have Miami speed in our backfield and it shows. Walton didn't play well enough, IMO, to carry the ball 120+ times this season.

A big reason why Ice Harris needs to go is to eliminate the possibility of favoritism towards his former HS RB. But Walton is a nice complimentary player who should contribute quite a bit these next few years and show improvement with better coaching.
