@ESPNU: #RecruitingESPN Top 5 recruiting classes (#ESPN300 commits/Total):
1 BAMA (12/18)
2 FSU (10/24)
3 TENN (10/24)
4 MIA (11/25)
5 UGA (8/16)

Where would The U be if it wasnt for the NCAA dragging this out? This is yet another validation of the work by the current staff.

The U would be crushing these guys in a fair fight.

#FreetheU

Flying out from California to be at U vs UF and can't wait....can't wait....can't wait....

Best case scenario #1 but the proper perspective on this is acknowledging the great job the staff has done despite looming sanctions. Also, when your class is comprised of South Florida talent, I would expect a top 5 class.

Rankings don't matter

VT has the most ACC titles since joining. They're never ranked above 30

mainly due to our coaching incompetencies during that time. A healthy Miami Hurricane program would have resulted with VT having less success in terms of ACC titles.

only ranking that matters is at the end of the year. Recruiting rankings were created to give jobs to guys who could never play and provide fans with discussion content during the off season.

IMO..they are meaningless...Shannon had the #1 class

Lets just win, I dont care if it with a top 5 class or a top 50 class as long as we win!!!!

Go Canes

Stars don't necessarily portend success. But you're going at it the wrong way if you believe that the Bamas of the world are the outliers (and not he VTs).

Recruiting class rankings do matter.Tell me a team that has won a BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP that does not have top 10 recruiting classes.

Rankings will matter going forward now that we have a COACHING staff and not a baby sitting service...

Rankings may not matter to some people in the grand scheme of things but I would sure as **** rather be ranked 4th than 120th

woulda coulda shouda!!! We have a staff now and I still don't think ranking matter our staff will coach our kids up!

Had Vt gotten top 5 classes they would be competing for the NC and not just the ACC. Rankings aren't everything but do matter.

while I get the sentiment that recruiting titles don't always lead to conference titles, this is an erroneous statement.

This staff also has one **** of an eye for talent, where others may not be looking at the same recruit due to his lack of "stars." I hope they start developing that talent into future pro-bowlers now.

Rankings based on stars? How about Figatron? And some of our other outstanding players who were not in the beauty contest?

To take a number four position anyway?

That's some good recruiting.

Not to discredit the OP, but I have a hard time taking ESPN Recruiting seriously. It's obviously not a priority to them.

Point isn't ESPNU but point IS Miami's ability to recruit despite ongoing sh*tstorm that NCAA is allowing to stall over Coral Gables.

Furthermore, I would argue ratings do matter. They do NOT translate into wins as that is determined by coaching and, to some extent, good fortune (injuries, schedule etc). Ratings do lead to good press and discussion in media which potential recruits watch. Success breeds success and kids who see something happening at the U will be more inclined to listen, as will their parents, when Coach Golden calls.

That being said, the fact that Golden and crew as killing it despite the NCAA is THE point.
