Emmitt Rice

We have the best LB class in the country committed. Not worried about a 3 star.

True, no matter where they are from...

This is a terrible approach and opinion and I will tell you why...

When Pinckney and McCloud committed to Miami. Both were unranked.

If we are going to go by stars.

Rice has a 4 star on rivals. 3 star on 247 and unranked on espn. Composite 4 star.

McCloud is unranked on espn, 4 star on 247 and 3 star on rivals. Composite 4 star.

Pinckney is a 3 star on espn, 3 star on rivals and 3 star on 247. Composite 3 star.

Where Pinckney is ranked in the linebacker rankings compared to previous class years he will fall into a 4 star as well.

Greg Simmons the Fort Pierce Central linebacker we offered a few days back, where his ranking in the linebacker rankings is, falls into a low 4* to high 3*

Donovan Thompson is a universal 3 star through all sites due to him being an inch or two short at 5'11" but that doesn't stop him. Everyone down here rates him as a top 10 player in South Florida. He dominates at the highest level of football in Dade County and had 167 tackles and 14 sacks including 56 tackles through a 3 game stretch against nationally ranked teams. I guess he's not good cause he's a 3 star cause of being a little short. But we had recent guys like Spence and Perryman both under 6'0" and were great for us.

My point here is, the star argument doesn't make sense. It's also very early in the process and I'm sure they will all rise up the rankings.

I mean going by that, I guess Devin Gil the LB/S is not a take for you? I see a load of potential in him and he's a universal 3 star.

My point is...

Rice is good enough for FSU, Bama, Ohio State and UF..... But not good enough for Miami? C'mon man. Especially considering the results on the field.....

You continue to recruit and offer no matter who you have committed. Nothing matters until the LOI is faxed in. We need at the very least 1 more pure linebacker in the class to add to the group.

Shaq, Zach and Mike are a great group. Along with Gil the tweener.

We said this very same thing about the RB group in 2015 and look what happened. I'm not saying they will decommit at all, but you play it safe than sorry. Miami needs to learn.

Rice has a high ceiling just like McCloud. You can't teach their size and athleticism.

Agree to an extent. I'm not saying shaq or mccloud are better because of stars, I'm saying that based on their football tape. Sometimes you can over recruit though and kids can start to waver. If we have shaq, mike, Zach, Gil, Simmons and if you add this rice to the group that is over recruiting the position... That's 6 lbs you are trying to justify in taking when we only have 1 or 2 leaving from the team after the season

If you're going to go out and mass recruit, you have to drop your offers quickly to all of them. Some will commit and some will try to drag it out. You gotta find the best all around athletes and get them not try to lock down the perfect sized athletes who may or may not be explosive. Al is stuck on measurables and sometimes you get those guys who have both but in Donovan's case he's one that should have been pursued right from the get go. Honestly it our coaches not being invested in the local coaching community.

The 3 LB's we have are just fine. You can't get them all. That's being too greedy. We would have been fine with just Cronk, Williams, & Walton. But they took scarlett also and messed everything up.

Maybe if they didn't take scarlett & kept Cronk & Walton, tim Irvin and jaquan would all be in the 2015 class as a group....

At this point it should be first come, first serve between Rice, Simmons and Joseph.

I assume this means we not offering DThompson which I think is a big mistake.

O.

vosean joseph is not an option he has cincinatti and wants an oregon in his top 2. Its either simmons or rice imo

FSU, Bama, Taint beating Al to kids in his backyard??? Geez, sad day

Sad.

FWIW they offered his teammate Vosean Joseph at LB but Rice has the higher ceiling and the better prospect than Joseph.

I don't see why they haven't offered yet? Good enough for FSU,Bama and Ohio State...

As I said earlier, wonder where this kid will stand if/when Miami extends an offer as he mentioned Miami would be his #1.

This kid is in our backyard. He should be discovered and offered before any other school.

Maybe they are offering in alphabetical order ????

Tim didn't have anything to do with Cronks recruitment.
Tokencane had mentioned that a few times.

I had explained it on page 1. Our current LB depth is not good at all. Lot of BIG question marks and projects. We're really only looking at 3-4 pure linebackers returning on our roster going into 2016 not including the 2016 commits and that might be generous. As the others are big question marks. All of the 2016 commits at LB have a legitimate shot for early playing time.

I'm not saying to take 6 linebackers. But Miami at the very least needs 1 more pure linebacker to add to 2016.

You can consider Rice a hybrid if you want, he plays some DE as well. I consider him a LB though.

Gil is no guarentee, he's a tweener/hybrid right now.... He could end up a safety or linebacker... Although I do love his potential as a LB.

You also got Simmons in the fold as well as the hybrid LB/S they offered Alexy Jean-Baptiste.

And my personal favorite who has dominated at the highest level of Dade comp. Donovan Thompson, not offered yet.

Long way to go till signing day, you must continue to recruit. Nothing is promised till NLI is signed and faxed.

If 2 of your close friends are committed to a school, & that same school really wants you to come also, you would consider them much more than originally. Human nature
