Either we stopped them for a loss or they gained 15 yds

I was at the game sitting next to my buddy who cane along. Based on our defensive alignment I successfully called where the Toledo offense was going about 80% of the time. It also helped my cause when Knowles was in the game but still

When we play a real offense we are in trouble.

#4 total defense nationally after 3 games. Small sample size but it is all we have. #1 tfl, #37 scoring, surprising #1 3rd down conversion, tied #21 sacks. Tied #69 red zone conversion.

Some definite warts but a lot to be happy with after 3 games.

This is like a touting a guys batting average after 2 at bats.

My biggest problem is when it’s 3rd and very long we send the house instead of playing a normal fundamental 3rd down defense .. I just feel like we are burned more often than we should be on third and longs

That's Diaz's defense in a nutshell. High risk, high reward.

Manny Diaz is the perfect D Coordinator for the Canes.

As we continue to recruit well, the talent that UM will line up on the defensive side of the ball will mitigate the downside of the risk-reward ratio of Manny approach.

Outside of one 50 yard run, LSU didn't do squat. SS had 78 yards of total offense. Toledo was 2-11 on 3rd down and we had 13 TFLs.

Diaz isn't perfect, neither is this D. But they adjusted and answered after a bad third quarter and shut them down completely down the stretch without JJ.

Don't get the bashing.

A pig dressed up like a baby is still a pig.

Defensive shortcomings will only be compounded when we play better teams than the the HS and JUCO teams we just played who have the personnel to exploit them.

lack of depth couldnt of been more clear yesterday on D, with a couple dings went from a great D, to a bad one

I remember when a DC like this that took risks and played "aggressive" is all everybody hoped and prayed for,...lol. You're one of the few that can still be seen sticking to the premise,....so kudos.

That’s actually not true. Outside of the 3rd quarter when our defense had several injuries, they were very solid against a good offense.

I'm not into predicting the future. So, I can't comment on what you've theorized.

Keep in mind this is nationally, compared to all of the other teams that have played 2-3 games. It is what it is. Kind of why I mentioned that, you know?

Like who? FSU? VT? Who on our schedule is a real offense? LSU sucks and they just beat Auburn.

Thanks. Perhaps seeing highlights of Texas Tech putting up 1.6 billion yards on Dorito's shell scheme last night is affecting my opinion. lol
