Last night was a much needed win. It was not pretty, but was much more physical than we have been for several years. The OL and DL showed up to play. The game plan was ultra conservative and while it resulted in a win I felt was not a very good game plan. We could not run (minus one run) through 3 quarters and couldn’t throw. This win was as much to do with Clemson losing the game as us winning the game.

We need to keep in mind that this Clemson team is a shell of itself and shows how wrong Dabo was to shun the transfer portal as they have holes all over the field. The bipolar fandome is in full swing today with people anointing yet another backup QB as the answer. Last night game showed me nothing about how good or bad Emory could be, but I did like his grit. If TVD was playing we would have won going away and need him back asap. We can not win with no offense against 90% of other teams. If you recall before the UNC game I said I had more confidence against Clemson than I did Vs UNC simply due to offenses.

Now for the other edge of the sword. Mario has been pushing for a more conservative offense every week since Texas A&M and it cost us against GT and UNC, but I am afraid he will view this as validation and use the same game plan when TVD is back. Anybody that wondered how involved he is on the offense only needs to look at the last series of regulation when he refused to go for the win but instead gambled on OT. Mario is both a terrible game day coach as well as an ultra conservative that plays not to lose.

In closing this team is technically 6-1 with the coaches losing 1, but in order to beat anyone with a pulse we need TVD back and need to throw it down field.
