Donna Shalala has done a wonderful job

The quality of healthcare is diminishing.A large part is being administered by Nurse Practioners or PA's who dont have adequate training. All of this because of profit motives and the refusal to fund more American medical schools.
As a physician in an internal medicine subspecialty for 30 yrs I have never seen it this bad. Insurance companies using tactics to obstruct adequate care. Pharmaceutical companies in bed with the government giving us by far the highest prices in the world. Patients not even understanding how they are being mishandled because their "provider" doesnt even know what they did wrong.
It's sickening what people will do to turn a buck. Our football team has been sold out for grant money schemes. Shapiro isn't the only con-man deserving of jail time. *sigh*

Then we need to cause so much trouble that the ACC threatens to throw us out. Then no blood from anywhere.

Long term, Donna has killed the University of Miami. It will drift into the everglades and slowing come to its end because of her. The next great crisis is student debt. The feds will eventually have to rolled back the ridiculous levels of college loan. Tuition will fall with those loan amounts as it rose. More and more colleges will close. More and more our jobs for educated workers are going to India and China. There is no stop to it. It is only a matter of time before the lie of education still being the road to higher earnings becomes more commonly understood. Like everything else, education will get more and more consolidated. Miami will not be positioned to survive that consolidation. I have been doing M&A(Mergers and Acquisitions) for 40 years. Donna has turned Miami into a target not a predator. Even the brand has has been damaged greatly.

The destruction of the football program give Miami less ability to survive in the future. As a pure medical/medical education play in a glowingly socialized system its value will grow smaller and smaller. In socialized systems, medical professionals are not high paid people. Lower paid jobs do not draw large numbers of students to difficult programs with high tuition cost. She has gone all in on a revenue flow which is in peril on two fronts and destroys the one that is actually growing leaps and bounds at SMART schools like Bama. They have made all in bet on a short term term play without a backup.

Can you expand on this?

Because there's a whole lot of nurses and more nurses these days, are they in trouble?

Medical services are being pushed down to lower level from MDs to nurses for cost savings. We more nurses in US because pay for them here is still higher than other socialized countries. As we move closer to the left's dream of British style health care, actually coming from Prussia early, medical pay will continue to go down. Plus medical care is being outsourced more and more from Britain to other countries such as India because it is cheaper toe fly patients there. There are many patient paid work going to central american locations from US already. Only matter of time before our government allows healthcare providers to take foreign providers in as plan providers. Then the out of pocket cost for patient getting care in US will go up and force them overseas to save money.

We have aging population so those who wipe rears will always be in demand, so jobs will be there but they might not be nice jobs. That is until government decides old age is just to costly to allow. Keep in mind, our education system and now more and more health care system follows the Prussian model. Think about that one for a little.

This is all new to me which is why I asked you to expand on it.

What is the prussian model?

as President of the University of Miami. She has raised (B)illions of dollars for the school, has jump-started a medical program that is quickly becoming among the best in the country (the real reason she was hired in 2001-to turn Miami's medical program into a money-making machine, I mean...she was the Secretary of Health and Human Services after all...), and most importantly, she has the Athletic department running comfortably in the black without depending solely on football.

Miami's "Olympic sports" (women's basketball, tennis, softball, etc.) and other athletic programs had been funded, primarily, by the football program. This meant the university had no choice but to allow the football program to continue to be the "face" (*cringes*) of the school. For years, the university had gotten away with investing the least while reaping the most out of the Miami football program. And while the Miami football program had enjoyed grand success, the football program couldn't comfortably fund all of Miami's other athletic programs. Shalala was not willing to allocate funds from other departments/"pet projects" (namely the medical program) to funnel to the football program.

So we enter the sh1tty artist formally known as the ACC. Via Title IX, Miami's "Olympic sports" would now be funded without depending on, what had been, the "heart" of the athletic department-the football program. Instead of being the main organ pumping life into all of the other "organs" that exist within the "body" of the athletic department, now that heart has become less important, becoming merely "just another organ" in the system. The heart beat is so faint....it's in failure. There's no need to resurrect that heart to it's former glory...no need to resurrect the "Thug U" imagery. That old heart has served its purpose. It had taken an unknown school and thrust it into the purview of the public. It had built a brand that is still second to none. But it is no longer needed. It is allowed to beat...faintly, just enough life to stay barely solvent in the worst power conference in the country. Just enough to keep the checks coming...

Guys...put down the flaming torches and the pitchforks. There's nothing to see here, folks. Do you really believe the BOT is going to speak out against a President that has turned the University of Miami into an actual university? Do you really believe that Donna gives a fck about an angry fan base, many of whom never attended the university, many of whom are not even college educated,...don't show up to games-you really think she gives a fck what we think??? She showed you exactly what she thinks about us by retaining Golden.

So I say fck Miami. Football has been replaced by the Medical program as the face of the university, folks. It makes waaaay more money...and it's a lot "cleaner". Our former players? Bought and sold. This **** is deeper than rap.

It's over, folks. We're done.

Last I heard the hospital is costing millions and cant cover its own expenses. My guess she is being asked to leave before she gets fired for being incompetent. How much money in pills came up missing again? http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/08/07/report-um-cancer-center-robbed-of-drugs-valued-in-millions/ Now we see why she took dirty money to help float her expenses taste buds and hunger for money

Humph. $100,000,000....in grant money alone....in one year.....Pffft, Miami ain't feeling that loss. A drop in the bucket... We are done.

The effects of Shalala will be felt in the up and coming decade. They will not be positive.
