Don Brown/ Manny Diaz

I see Brown who I knew nothing about before this season, aranda and Diaz as interchangeable based on all the data people have posted on this site that I've seen. I think you would get similar results with any of those guys. One isn't head and shoulders better than the other. So crying about not getting aranda or brown is ridiculous.

FullyERicht had Don Brown listed as one of his "best hires" and deemed the Diaz hire as horrible (to put it mildly). Here is a look at Brown and Diaz from 2009 to present. 2013 is excluded because Diaz was let go.

Average yards per game: Diaz-361 Brown- 332
Scoring Defense: Diaz- 23.8 Brown- 22.23
Of the 6 years, Diaz defenses gave up fewer points than Brown 3 times and vice versa. Even split.

So the difference between a horrible hire and a best hire is approximately 1.6 points per game and 29 yards per game over a six year period and an even split in head to head scoring defense by year.

brown is the best dc in coll currently. diaz is a great hire but lets not kid ourselves. Brown is a homerun hire at dc.

excited for diaz though I think he will do great here but Brown is the best dc

No he's not. Good DC but there are better out there with more success at bigger programs. The guy is 60 years old and is just now getting a shot running the D at a major program.

Don has had a very interesting career. He has been a HC several times as well.

I thought we played Maryland in 2010, so I checked out how Morris, Miller and the boys did vs. Brown:
504 yds
26 points (missed PAT)
25 first downs
We also had 100 yards in penalties.
Maryland scored a defensive TD on a pick 6.

No statements here, just tidbit info.

500 yards, 26pts of offense to Mark Whipple and Stephen Morris.
