Bain and Mesidor have been dominate in both the run and the pass and I believe if they continue to play at this level, they will finish the season as the best edge rush duo in the nation.

I’m especially happy for Mesidor, he is finally playing his natural position, at his natural weight, for a DC who knows how to maximum his talent. What he is putting on tape could land in the 3rd or 4th round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

When practice shows up on tape. Watch the 30 second mark, Mesidor in game looks exactly like the drill he is running in this clip from X

You’re doing the lords work bra. Mario’s canes team identity is 100% my style of ball on both sides.

This D line play through 8 qtrs is special. I wish more posters really appreciate what they see.
I have been dreaming for Miami football to look like this for years. This is a product of scheme and culture and that’s how you become a champion. Multiple posters here all offseason posted how Mesidor was “mid” and he needed to be on the bench, or how Bain regressed and was no longer a 1st rounder, and it was all because of the culture and scheme of Guidry’s defense they were being wasted in.

The way this defense is playing is because of the DNA of Hetherman’s scheme. The scheme requires players to rally to the ball, that rallying to the ball is the direct result of Bains interception. Last season that would have been a completion for 7 yards, but in this defense two defensive back deflect the pass and a DE hustling to the ball gets the interception, that’s culture.

I'm still amazed that some posters don't account for injuries. Of course a player isn't going to be as good if they're hurt. It doesn't mean they "regressed."

Same thing if they're not playing at their best position. ie Mesidor at DT or Porter at DB last year.

Craziest thing is Lightfoot is right there…. He looks explosive, twitchy. The package we saw at the end of ND game is a NIGHTMARE (Lightfoot, Blount, Bain, Mesidor)
The way Hetherman has been moving him around is very interesting, edge, linebacker, I even saw him in what looked like nickel. He is going to have a breakout game soon.

I wonder how they will d against mobile QBs who can get out the pocket, both our more powerful type DEs and can have trouble getting guys like castellanos in grasp. Next couple weeks will give a good idea.

The emphasis in practice has been on pocket containment. We shouldn't be rushing higher than the QB. Keep your cage north and south, etc.
