This might be counterintuitive, but let me make the argument. Let’s say that the plan for a spring season in 2021 remains unchanged for the two conferences, followed by a fall 2021 season. Could an Ohio State or Michigan use this to their advantage, promising early enrollees playing time in the spring season? Thus a top blue chip recruit could theoretically have to play only two calendar years (2021 and 2022). In those two years they would earn three college seasons in, before being eligible to go pro. This would give a recruit a year head start over the three conferences playing a fall 2020 season.
Could this actually work for them?
