I would like a seasoned head coach with a proven track record of success over a substantial period of time, no gambling hires anymore looking for that next up and comer that we have tried and failed at miserably. So even though yes, you’re right Go Canes, I do like Mario and think he is twice, three times the coach manny is at the minimum because he atleast played and knows the game and commands the respect and contacts within the coaching community that come with that, that manny doesn’t have and never will. But I admit he doesn’t fit the mold of what we need right now to bring us back out of the depths. I compare where we are as a program right now due to bad hires by a lazy cheap administration of almost 20 years to where we were in the late 70s before Howard came. So another Howard type we need, someone who truly knows this game in and out and knows how to win in the game very similar to a guy like Mack brown. Stupid age conversation shouldn’t even be a part of this because it’s not like Howard was a young guy when he took the job, he’s was a proven winner and that’s all that matters. We need a true program builder again but that’s where we are Go Canes whether we want to admit it or not, we’re at step zero and have to build it again from the ground up because the foundation has rotted. So In my opinion we need a guy like Bill Clark from UAB, a proven winner over a long period of time, a proven program builder as we all know UAB shut down there whole freaking program for awhile and bill had to build it back up again. He’s an all business disciplinarian which is exactly what these south Florida players need as we see they do nothing but run right over “players coach’s” like manny. He has the coaching connects and know how to build a quality staff like Mack brown built at UNC and he will not hire anyone he can’t fire as he understands it’s his job to win and always do what’s best for the program, not his buddies or family. Now that’s just one suggestion but if not Bill then someone who fits his exact description, thats what we need! Just another guy who fits the example even though the ship as sailed on him is Gary Patterson and had he been hired back in 2006 instead of a “no head coaching experience” DC from a “Failed regime” this program would be in a much better place today. Also does the last sentence sound familiar, especially the stuff in quotes? SmhSame question then. Who is your answer?
You've loved Mario and he **** the bed the moment he lost Herbert. He's in year 3 and his team is awful.
You choose the next coach.
