Diaz talks Lashlee rumors, COVID issues, and VT win

If Diaz doesn’t upgrade his D coordinator and CB coach this off season he will not make it here and I hope he knows that because that’s the reality of coaching a program that has won 5 NCs. Because In the end of the day he’s not always gonna have a King or a Lashley to save his defenses *** In the fourth quarter like the last two games and multiple games this season. Not to mentions those two coaches blake and Rumph are I charge of recruiting the two positions on defense with the biggest lack of depth and talent.
He is a long shot to make it here anyway. Not trying to be a negative nancy, but the hire was amateur hour at best. When you calculate the "learn on the job" curve just for him to get up to speed, he can't miss so bad on crucial hires. Sure, Lashlee was a big upgrade at OC, but most of that is the huge upgrade at QB.

They are probably not giving him the financial leeway to make giant splashes, but he needs to drop any and all coordinator ego and bring in the best he can afford at DC, and yes, that even means if the guy makes his defense look remedial.

You don't see Frierson balling at striker and Couch at corner?

I know you saw the NC State game but did you see us hold VT 14 below their average?
Frierson is coached by patke, not Rumph. Couch is the one bright spot but it’s taken almost 2/3rds the season to play him the majority just like GR15 last year. That’s on baker, not to mention this defense has regressed to night and day status since Baker took over. And we all no there’s no defending rumphs recruiting at this point seeing how it’s about a month to signing day and we still have no CBs committed. Smh neither of those coaches are championship or even power five qualified. They’re group of five coaches at best and will not take us where we want to be, so what are we arguing about here, it’s that simple. If We want to win big we need a staff that wins big.

Some of you need to learn that you can both acknowledge we've made a lot of progress since last year, while also noting we're not where we want to be. Manny is doing a good job overall, he has yet to be complacent on any front. Just because there's areas that need work, doesn't mean we have to burn down the whole thing.

I agree with tbe level of the assistants. Brent Venables was co dc for Oklahomas ship before heading to clemp. The only person on our defensive staff with any real defensive experience is rumph and apparently he's handcuffed.

Sure you can hit a miracle and find a diamond in the latitude bar rough. But it's just as likely I'll win the lottery and buy a real defensive staff for UM lol

Its werid to se him being so cutthroat on the O side of the ball axing enos after one season but keeping around underachieving defensive bros. The defense isn't playing enos ball but still pretty rough.

I love the Canes but imagine how difficult it would be to fire your best friend. (If that's the type of relationship manny has with the defensive staff). Self preservation has to kick in at some point.
