"I think the one thing is the players, they instantly bought in because they see this defense is about defensive linemen making plays, and they know his background, they know his track record, so he had instant credibility when he walked in and then he said, ‘Hey, by the way, we’re playing a scheme where instead of you worrying about tying up blocks or standing on the line of scrimmage, we’re going to eat in the backfield.”

I know lots of people have said he talks a good game, but they want to see the production, but you have to admit this guy can at least talk the talk. Loved the comment about eating in the backfield.

I thought the most significant part was the way he threw shade on the previous staff, "we’re playing a scheme where instead of you worrying about tying up blocks or standing on the line of scrimmage."

Direct shot at the previous defense.

Diaz sure does like to take shots. Let's see if he can back it up.

He does TALK a good game but Manny Diaz also knows Miami and Miami fans. He knows he can't lie to us. He has got to pull his weight for sure and talking this much smack leads me to believe he is going to give is what we want to see.

But lets be real here; It's a lot easier to talk grimey when you have a guy like coach Kul at ya side. That dude is going to be a huge piece of any success Manny Diaz has here.

Him and Richt are the two hires holding the entire staff in place. Their expertise/wisdom is what will make this team roll.

"Were the U baby lets go!" *Richt Voice*

That's why our o-line was garbage the last two seasons, they had to practice against a bull**** scheme and on gameday they were getting punched in the mouth

It might just be talk from Diaz, but not from Kuligowski. I can't wait to see what he can do with the talent that is attracted to a school like Miami, when it's relevant again, vs what he did with the kids he could get at Missouri.

Talk is cheap.....the one thing I did like in that interview was the response:

“There may be highly sought after defensive linemen who are big and physical, but if they don’t run the way we want them to run, they may not be our type of guy,” Diaz said. “Why is that? You put those guys together and you see that’s why you can get to the quarterback, that’s why you’re disruptive in the backfield, maybe we’re taking a little bit more of an athletic guy up front. You still have to have toughness. There is a size we want our guys to be. But we want guys that are athletic, we want guys that can change direction, turn corners where you can envision this guy sacking a quarterback.”

They want a true Canes front seven. Sacrifice some size with speed and toughness. I remember seeing an interview of Coach Kool saying he doesn't look at weight but body fat. We getting back to athleticism & attitude fellas.

There is a storm rising in "Da Bottom" that will once again set things right in the world of college football.

Go Canes

This is sweet music to my ears. I been very sick of QB's having all day to pick us apart.

Manny Diaz relies on polling numbers when he adjusts his defensive schemes. Shocked he hasn't been able to get a referendum on the ballot to finance our IPF.

I'm assuming since Diaz was born & raised in Miami he grew up a die hard Canes fan too. Wouldn't it **** you off, especially as a knowledgeable coach, what those clowns did to our football program. I'd be throwing bricks at them ********.

Diaz is the one Richt hire I hate. On Hornfans all the UTexas fans think he was awful. They view him at least as bad if not worse than we view Nix and Donofrio. Some people argue that he almost singlehandedly destroyed the end of Mack Brown's coaching career. Mississippi State fans don't view Diaz in high regard at all either- they're all glad to be rid of him. The one thing he might have had going for him at UT and MSU was being a guy with SoFla ties for recruiting. But that's hardly a strength that matters when the school is located in SoFla like Miami is.

Why didn't Richt bring Jeremy Pruitt over from UGA? Nole fans believe he was the greatest thing ever from his year with them and he did pretty well at UGA as well. Pruitt wasn't hired as Saban's new DC until almost a month after Richt was named Miami head coach. Richt had 29 days to hire Pruitt at Miami before Saban grabbed him.

Supposedly there was friction between Richt and Pruitt, how true I don't know.
