I'm good with whoever they decide on. But Idk why so many think Tate is far and away better than Jarren.

Even their recruiting rankings were close. Jarren was ranked higher in his class by both 247 and ESPN. Tate was ranked higher in the composite because Rivals (who most of you don't trust) had Tate ranked 39th and Jarren at 114.

ESPN had Jarren ranked 106 and Tate ranked 127.

247 had Jarren ranked 89 and Tate ranked 92.

They're just so different. I really can't wait to see them both in the spring.

Any article on Miami QBs that doesn't mention Weldon is trash.

If some random internet guy's opinion matters that much to him. I'm not sure I'd trust him to play quarterback.
On the contrary, I’d trust someone who is hungry to prove any doubters wrong.

For me it's based solely on the fact that Martell has played a lot more and done a very good job. Williams hasn't done anything of note yet. We'll see I'm the spring. They're all gonna get a shot and the cream will rise.

It's important to emphasize that they were different classes though. And even though Jarren's class had Lawrence and Fields, Tate's class was a bit more stacked. Tate's backup in HS, Dorian Thompson-Robinson ended up being ranked even higher in the 2018 class than Tate was in the 2017 class, and I think Tate is the better player.

Either way, good post. I did not realize Jarren was so highly regarded by 247 and espn

From the article

“It was extraordinarily tough,” Diaz told 247Sports. “If we’re going to talk to our players about accountability, we have to have that same accountability as coaches. Miami can’t rank where we were offensively last year — we just can’t.”

This speaks volumes...

Question since I don't follow the rankings that closely, how do they come up with the scores for each player? Wouldn't that be a better indicator than overall ranking when we're talking about different years? For example, as someone else mentioned, the 13th ranked player one year could actually be a top 2-3 player if they would have come out in a different year. Just trying to figure how they truly stack up.
