Diaz coaching the bowl game

True, but he wouldn’t be interviewing for Temple while getting ready to play for a chip. He’d be looking bigger. It’s not really debatable. Just like if we weren’t 7-5 he wouldn’t have been left off the Broyles award list.

Bigger? It's extremely rare that a first time head coach is hired to any big time school. The ONLY time that ever happens is when they promote from within. He was already offered the App State job before Temple called and he declined.

Temple is a very strategic opportunity for him, the last 3 out of 4 head coaches from Temple has been hired by an ACC school within 4 years of being at Temple.

Last 4 Temple Headcoach's, all had 0 prior HC experience
Al Golden: Hired by Miami
Steve Addazio: Hired by Boston College
Matt Rhule: Hired by Oregon
Geoff Collins: Hired by Georgia Tech

Did not skip anyone....those are literally the last 4 head coaches..so he's pretty much looking at **** near being an ACC coach in for the 2021 season...Which is why I said in another thread, Miami needs to snatch him up if he wins 10 games, because someone will, and quick.

I got you bro. But any other final 4 assistants out interviewing for the Temple job? Typically, if you’re playing for the NC, you don’t take calls unless it’s NFL or P5, until your season is over.

I do hope Manny kills it there and is back here soon. He belongs at Miami. They say things happen for a reason, and I totally believe that.

Then should have waited until after the early signing period, and done it then after we secured our players and not ***** any momentum we had for defensive commits. This was handled poorly and should just stay in Philly and recruit for them.

^^^THIS!!

Stand up move by the man - dude is a hustler.

Without him, we definitely lose (and he knows it).

With him, we have a shot - and he knows it.

Years down the line:

Manny to UM: Remember when I coached the team in the PS bowl, despite being HC for another school. I was committed then and committed now.

UM to Manny: Facts

Manny is buying stock, no other way to look at it...

I bet the folks at Temple wouldn't have let him to wait that long with signing period approaching.

There aren't other ways to handle this situation.

I liked Manny as our D Coordinator a lot. He's intelligent, passionate about football, and has an intense demeanor. Having been around him a couple of times, I always though he carried himself like you would want a HC to. He deserves this opportunity, and while the timing sucks, I legitimately hope he continues to have success in his career.

But I do not want him on our sideline for the bowl game. I don't care what day it becomes "effective," Manny is publicly the Temple HC now. He is looking at coaches for Temple (some of them are our coaches). He is, no doubt, recruiting for Temple. He is no longer a Hurricane. The sooner this team moves on, the better.

Classy act. And you can't hate on the man for attacking his goals. CMR was well aware of this. Most HCs want their assistants to be promoted because it makes their program more attractive to the up and comers.
