Derwin James is the Real Deal!!

Their defense should be excellent next year. Awesome test for Richt.

All I know is a mid major school is smoking this "excellent" defense

It's a good thing I mentioned I think they'll be excellent next year. Also, Houston is a really well-run team in a bowl game. These days, anyone can get scored on. In certain games, Gary Patterson's team has allowed a ****boat of points despite having excellent defenses.

But, go ahead. Tell me why their defense will suck.

Lu, I'll be honest w u, FSU has a lot of "star" power, but their def hasn't been that impressive since Pruitt left. I mean, they're talented, but they make a lot of mental mistakes and this is going back to even last year...(i.e that busted coverage on UH's last drive). I think they're composed by a bunch of meatheads vs football IQ guys. Which is y well coached offenses give them ****. Not that impressed with the def as a whole, just a couple of players on that side of the ball

They haven't been that bad this year and, again, I think they'll be just as good if not better next year. They certainly have a lot of raw athletes out there. I think Herman can make a lot of people look bad, to be honest. Watching what he did with a backup's backup last year against Bama was art. Or, at least what I consider art. Giving Herman a few weeks to prepare for FSU was a nightmare because he is a well-prepared guy who happens to do great thinking on the spot. The guy is a star - regardless of what had happened in this game or what happens in specific instances (he will certain trip up at some point).

As for FSU specifically, I think Sweat is a potential monster for them next year. I think they have more than enough on their DL to be stout. James is a potential superstar. They need to fill some holes at LB, but it's a defense that will punish people next year.

Doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't beat them.

I agree w u, but I look at Sweat, for instance, freaky athleticism, but relies upon one trick....speed. He also got blown off the ball or gave up on plays a lot. I know he's coming off a really bad leg injury, so maybe he had that back in his head, but I didn't see the same beast I saw in his junior year in HS. He'll need to develop better pass rushing skills on this level. I see a lot of FSU guys looking for the big hit vs making the sure tackle. I think FSU has supreme talent, and I do think they will be good next yr, but I don't feel overwhelmed by them like I did in 2013.

Truth be told, we should've beat them last year and this yr...**** poor coaching lost us both games. In 2013, when they had Pruitt, we couldn't make a move on them, like other teams. The only team that had success against them was Auburn, then they got shut down in the 2nd half. Haven't seen that dominance since, even with all the 4/5 star talent they have.
