He feels that UM will go for offensive mind, a former OC with HC experience.
*feels that they go for a guy between 40-55 years of age.
*in his opinion Feels Butch is not the guy.
*has to pay the next guy at least $3MM
*says it's the second best job behind The Trojan
*hearing lots of names, college and pro.

Nothing earth shattering but good to hear from a reputable guy.

Probably knws something we don't..... these guys dnt always reveal their sources and make it seems like their guessing....

This. We can talk about Herman and Fuente and Butch and such and such, but nobody knows what's on our search agenda. I just hope they have some actual "football" people like JJ who can look past the cheap and easy hire helping them make the decision.

So has anyone confirmed or denied the report that the pres was meeting with Butch to discuss his plan and his past?
 
I for one am tired of going for the "young, up and coming guy with fire in his belly and alot to prove"...Isnt that what Golden was? I like Herman but we are at a critical point in our program and we just cant take anymore chances on guys like this. People keep going to the video of him firing his team up but I remember when Golden was hired someone said he did the same thing at Temple in a huddle and the board almost got shutdown because people were so excited.

I want a proven guy who has been to the mountain top. When ALA was at a critical point in the prgm they didnt go for some young, energetic guy..they went for the sure thing..Nick Saban. Same with U of M..Haughbah was/is a sure thing. Hes been the the Super Bowl and has won at the college level. No more experiments. No more "young guy with fire" crap.

Obviously, by my post, I want Butch. But thats just me.

I like Herman, and his record under Meyer was impeccable, but where is he at? It's not like he's coaching at a PAC 12 school. He's 7-0 in a cupcake conference.

That said, he's a savage. If no Butch, he may be the next best thing, but I think Herman wants Southern Cal and we're being used as leverage by his agent so he can be the next Big Thing.
 
^^Great post! "The next young coach with fire..." is media jargon BS. When are Canes fans (of all people) gonna stop being followers and acting as if any situation we can possibly have and it's dynamics are to be handled like the status quo or how everyone else does it? Its frustrating that we have Canes like this. We have a very political, appeasing, apologetiic, appearances focused fanbase now. It's disgusting, against our essence/culture, and the very reason we suck right now.
 
We've had one up and comer. It's not like we had a bunch. Coker and Shannon weren't even attempts at finding a coach. Golden won 9 games one season. Herman is at 7-0 in his first season. Not to mention his offense has been top ten everywhere he went. That's enough to be intriguing as is. He had a top ten offense with Rice.

actually 2. JJ and Erickson were up and comers at the time they were hired. We just happenned to have a competent AD at the time too.
