We wasted a championship caliber defense on Richts stupid @ss

This is the best defense we’ve had here in 14 years....since the ST, Vilva snd DJ Williams led D in 03-04
 
The defense is doing a fine job.

Maybe we'll add a high ranking with PPG allowed in future years, too.
 
I think we were solid the 1 year we had Palermo on staff as the DL, too - don't remember the year - the last year of Coker's time as HC, I think.

That was a very good defense, but I think this 2018 defense is a notch above, because our DLine this season is just tremendous and our safeties are spectacular. Great leadership on D at every level

Could’ve been a playoff year this year, no doubt, if Richt wasn’t a corpse
 
I believe you're right.

Of course, I couldn't name more than a couple players at the moment from that Palermo defense - maybe Kareem Brown and Baraka Atkins were on the DL.

But we were still getting a lot of highly recruited players at that time. I'm sure we had a lot of other big names on that defense.

it is a great defense but let's see how it shakes out through 12 or 13. not just 7.

You do know that Richt hired Diaz right?
 
They also get better every week at something. The tackling from LSU to now has improved dramatically.

So crazy that we're #1 given the offense's deficiencies, testament to Diaz and the D coaches.
 
******* travesty this defense has to deal with one of the worst offensive units in America that is stocked with 4 star Florida talent

Lmao you idiots we're ****ED when richt hired diaz. Some of us knew it was a good hire.

Now it's his fault he's wasting that defense and yet he gets no credit for making arguably the best hires in the country.

Offensive troubles for sure but he's a HC, so he gets credit for defensive success as well
 
I was definitely concerned with Diaz after teams torched us over the middle of the field. Also any somewhat competent QB we made look like Joe Montana.

This year he's done a good job. Obviously he has his flaws but I must say he's had a great year.


If Diaz does take a HC gig hopefully he takes Patke and Banda with him.
