Besides "because it's Al Golden" is the main reason that Miami has above and beyond more kids that decommit than any other program?

We had almost as many de commits last year as total commits on NSD and we're on pace to shred that number this year.We might reach 20 De commits by february.

Each commit is a case by case basis. Some commit to hold a spot in case they don't get the big offer they are looking for from fsu, u***, bama etc. Some decommit because they simply committed way to early and then saw all there buddies having a ton of fun getting recruited still. Most decommit because they see the product we put on the field, which is the biggest head scratcher to me. Noone and i meann noone not even probably Al Golden himself thinks we will win more than 9 games this yr. so why commit with unreal expectations for us.

Well thought out and great post!

Miami is in a no win situation when it comes to that..... we offer a kid they hold the spot then bolt... we don't offer a kid, we get criticized for not offering .... smh

The only other thing i can say is the kids that we want to de-commit, are de-committing (besides Burnett)..... so its not like a dexter williams, Jordan Scarlett, and Dwayne Lawson situation.. where they are studs who left us

I think its a nation wide epidemic that will eventually be lessened by early signing period and new fresh/soph recruiting rules. Its more prevelant because Miami is still a very known Brand. Some do it for attention, some do it because they legit wanna come here then for whatever reason chancge there mind. (Coaches/ players in there ear, $$$, Canes lack of winning) others change mind when they realize they may not get the PT they want or studs already at the position ala Lawson/Kayaa/Cap Jack situation.

Because Golden pushes kids to commit when they are not truly ready. I've heard a few interviews now where the kids state "they were asking me to commit" or something along those lines.

Cronkrite decommitted because he didnt believe the coaches would give him a shot at RB. Dexter though Golden was getting fired. The new UF staff got to Scarlett who was prob recruiting against us until his relationship with Kevin Beard made him feel guilty. its all different.

So we have a very good class with over 20 kids, and a few decommit 6 months before signing day, and its the end of the world?!? SMH.

Minus burnnette these de-commits dont matter

^This! Negative fans have made a big deal about all of these decommitments over the last few years when a LARGE number of these kids should never have been offered in the first place.

Sorry, but I would take back Burnett, Camp, Gardner and even Snelson(not too worried about WR as long as we keep Bruce) in a heart beat.

Golden is garbage period.

The guy broke NCAA records for decommits for a coach who was retained with something like 14+ last cycle.

This season can't be over with soon enough.

So that would fall on a staff irresponsibly offering and/or having extremely poor evaluation capabilities, correct?

I think it's just a difference in philosophy. The staff has moved away from the "selective and honest" approach to the "just offer everyone and let the chips fall where they may" approach. There is bound to be a bunch of decommitments.

This is good.. and I would like to piggy back:
Some recruits commit then others commit after them in the same position and they realize this may not be the best place for me to get on the field, without some stiff competition.
