Is the qb taught to score no matter what or to take off as much time as possible before scoring? Against Ole Miss we left 18 seconds or so on the clock which they were a Hail Mary away from winning and now in this game Beck went for the TD in which even if we scored that’s too much time for Indiana to drive for a fg.

Please reread I didn’t say Beck shouldn’t have scored against Ole Miss I said they were able to drive the ball down the field in 18 seconds so no idea why Beck was going for the TD with that throw

1. The play call
2. The coverage

Beck failed miserably on his decision. Mario wasn't going to throw Beck under the bus in his post game presser. But I guarantee Mario, dawson, heatherman, mirabal, and everyone including the equipment manager said "nooooo" when they watched Beck turn and fire that throw.

It was the absolute wrong decision...not wrongly placed. That was ALL on Beck.

Because we were trying to win the game and we're not so dominant that we can choose exactly when we score in a semi-final or final playoff game.
 
If Dawson did his job in the first half the National Championship trophy would be in Miami now. The guy is NOT a good OC. He is highly predictable, out smarts himself, and has a very poor feel for the game. I'm very impressed how Mario has evolved as a head coach. Please part ways with this CHARLATAN. Many people bring up that UM was the best offense in college last year. I would strongly suggest that was due to Cam Ward and not Dawson!

When the offense is good it's because of the players only and when it's not it's because of the coordinator only. The good stuff? That's it.

I would like to piggyback this with, within seasons, in the games, or even drives, when the offense looks good, those are the games/drives that Dawson handles the offense only, and in the games/drives when we struggle, that's when Mario meddles in the offense. Clear as day. Don't know how anyone can't see that.

Always reactionary takes on CIS. Indiana was executing at a fantastic level in the first half. We couldn’t run it, interior DL got penetration on nearly every first half run. Then he tried to open it up and let Beck pass and we went 3 and out. Indiana is a **** good defense, OSU scored 10 on them and we scored 21 in a single half. I’m sure the whole team looks back at the first half and thinks about stuff that could have been done differently

I have complete confidence in Hetherman stopping somebody from going 75 yards in 18 seconds. Especially when a FG does not matter. Just my opinion.

I haven't rewatched the game yet - just don't have it in me yet to do that - but I was in a chat yesterday that said they thought Beck changed the protection to move another blocker in so he didn't get sacked. I think they mentioned Marty Brown but not sure if he was in since I haven't rewatched it. Supposedly he would have had that other secondary guy and the assumption is Beck thought he would sit where he was.

Obviously alot of assumptions - if it had worked we would have been thrilled.
I've also seen some talk that Marion may have not run the route the way Beck expected him to.

Could be a combination of all of that at the worst possible time.

Bottom line is plenty happened before that play that could have also turned the tide in favor of the Canes.

Beck has had brain f@rts all season long... inspite of having played 43 college football games.

It's what they said about him when we got him... 3 crucial interceptions on the final play to lose 3 games...

that's a mental processing issue and not a good one for a QB with NFL aspirations.

Would you care to explain why the coaches of the best team in the country only scored 10 points on 8 drives for the first three quarters of the game?

You people really need to watch more football. No one in the country just shows up and scores at will. Especially in a national title game.

Let me preface this by saying if we scored on the interception play with 40-50 seconds. Indiana would have only needed 25 yards to kick an easy field goal for their kicker. That is the difference between having a very smart QB like a Brady who knows how to manage a drive and Beck who panicked
