This season we are having our share of football injuries. Worth mentioning is that the way our Team practices and plays today is totally different than the past few years. We no longer push or grab each other like we did in the Gorlden area. We don't play defense the read, react and grab way anymore. We did not know how to deal with or play through pain. Our players are practicing and playing full speed now days for not only is that what our coaches expect, more importantly it's what is needed to compete and win. You play like you practice! We currently have 9 offensive and 7 defensive 2016 starters that were recruited by Gorlden. These players mostly would not have been recruited by MR for they are not U caliber players. These players also learned to play at the College level under the previous regime and mindset. They are neither of the right caliber nor were they well conditioned either mentally or physically to compete and win, therefore the 2015 fourth quarter debacles.
The point of this thread is, we need to expect more of the type of injuries we are seeing until either through recruiting, attrition or conditioning our players get to the level they need to be in order to expect to always win.
We will get there sooner than later. Our current freshmen group is testament to that. No more entitlement mentality.
Next man up!!!
