The consensus around from Alumni is a bit split. Most want Butch, some want Chud, a few guys want Mario, Portis wants
Pagano. Alumni are pushing hard for Butch and Chud.


The consensus from commits. I've spoke to a big chunk of them already since Sunday. Mario Cristobal (I'm not a fan of Mario being coach, I'd be fine with him coming down as an assistant HC. I don't think Mario ready for this job yet.) some commits mentioned Butch too. One mentioned Ice but I don't think Ice is ready either to take over.

Recruits/Targets we are going after mentioned to me Cristobal and some mentioned Butch. One mentioned Lane Kiffin...... **** no.

Got a guy who's got a connect to the team and some of the players want Butch or Mario. They're not gonna come out on media and say it but that's the word.

I speak with Larry Blustein here and there. Blustein very adamant that he wants Mario in. We had a long convo over twitter yesterday. I don't like Mario for the HC job right now.



If we can get Mario on the new staff in some capacity, would be a great move for recruiting, expect a boost in recruiting from him and we would have a great shot of getting any decommits back. We could get some guys interested who turned away from Miami before down here.



If you want to know my short list right now.... Butch, Chud, Herman, Feunte


Butch has to climb some hurdles and obstacles, so he's kind of unrealistic right now.


Chud.... People are gonna say "he doesn't like recruiting". Chud from an X's and O's standpoint would be great and he would have a good staff around him and they will recruit well too. An alumni from the 91 championship team told me two weeks ago Chud would be a frontrunner and don't be surprised if Chud could get Orgeron and Patrick back down here. Only thing I had a major question with was Walsh as an OC........

One interesting thing to note. Chud roomed with Mario brother Louis at the U and they are very close together like family. I would be open to Chud trying to convince Mario to come down as an assistant HC, especially for Chud recruiting deficiency.


Chud not a **** in your face hire but he's a good smart hire. If you don't think so, oh well. We'll agree to disagree.

Blustein thinks Chud a phone call away from an NFL job. I'm not so sure about that if Indy keeps crumbling down the stretch.

Chud can use Miami job as his springboard back into an NFL HC job.


Chud comes from the Butch tree which was originally the Jimmy tree.

Chud works very well with QBs too. Junior Kaaya with Chud is interesting.




Herman something about him just strikes me as a young Jimmy Johnson. Love his fire and I'm a fan of his offense. Plays to his players strengths. Just concerned with what defense he would run here.



Fuente I like but he runs too tight of a ship for my liking similar to Golden. I'm half sold, need to see more from Fuentes.





Stoops I like but I doubt he comes because he just got an extension.

Schiano not a good fit here. Think he would do better elsewhere.


Mario as I said above.... I don't think he's ready for the HC job. I'd be open to grooming here for it though.

Hue and Chip are in the unrealistic category. Miami should have striked on Hue last year, smh. Hue gonna land a HC job in the nfl this offseason.

I think Pagano will stay in nfl somewhere.


Smart intrigues me. Some worried he's another Muschamp.

Not a Mike Shula fan.

Idk if Venables is interested.

I like Pruitt.

Strong would do well in recruiting but something about him has me concerned as an HC. Think he would have an aggressive D though.








Me and another poster you very much respect here, both believe "gun to the head" its Chud. Which I'm ok with.

Out of Mario, Schiano and Chud, Chud is the one hire I wouldn't hate. I wouldn't love it but I wouldn't hate it either.
 
Seems to me we could have Butch and Mario.

With the $ we save by having Butch a below-market price, we could offer Mario a pay raise over what he's getting now, even just to coach OL. That pay raise, plus the fact he'd be in good shape to land the HC gig in 4-5 years, would seem like enough to make him come home.
 
By the way. Same alumni who is still close to the program said Chud would want to bring back Tommy Moffit to replace Swasey. If that's truly the case, let's go!
 
Going after Chud when we could get Butch is just the type of idiotic move I expect our administration to make.

Oh well, it was fun being excited about the program for a few days I guess.

Can't expect most of the recruits to know Butch... Hasn't been on the sidelines since 2010...

Chud was my pick two years ago. Now I think we have gone so far that only Butch works. But if Chud can pull Butch as DC then I am fine. That solves ANY RECRUITING problem Chud has. Butch was JJ's recruiting co-coordinator I think. Left Dennis loaded enough to win 2 NC while loaded(if you know what I mean.) Mario just doesn't hit the mark as HC for some reason. If Chud wants him on staff, fine. He can learn REAL recruiting from Master Butch.
 
Chud gets crapped on here but he's a super x and o guy, always hear positive stuff about his play calling. We could do a lot worse, not **** but would be good.

I'd prefer a few others guys but id be ok with this.
 
Just to preface this statement - I think Mario would be one of the worst hires for head coach we could make. You have to understand that Mario is a monster recruiter and I would imagine a pretty likeable guy. I would guess that's the reason all the recruits and some of the younger guys on the team want him to get the job. They've all interacted with him in some capacity. Most recognize he is good at what he's doing now and has a bright future, probably as a head coach somewhere. That being said he is definitely not right for this job right now.

It would be outstanding if we could convince him to come in as the assistant coach, especially under someone like Butch. He'd kill it in recruiting and make a great potential head coach in waiting.

Huh? People complained all of the time about his play calling here.

SMH at Chud with Butch publicly lobbying for the position.

That would be like USC telling Pete Carroll no thanks and hiring Lane Kiffin instead.


And if we hire Cristobal you can all say a nice long good bye to Hurricanes football as we know it. We've been awful for a decade. We can't afford to toil around in the bottom rung of a horrible conference much longer. This needs to be a "this shlt stops, immediately!" type of a hire, not a "hey let's get this position coach who was once fired by a Sun Belt school" hire.

This is nuts.

No other school in the country even knows Chud exists, but of course, he is the leading candidate at Miami, despite overwhelming support for the guy who last built this program to championship levels.

We have $4 million to spend and you have people clamoring for this loser. Jesus H. Christ.
