MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

Does anyone see the TV networks pumping the brakes on expansion for a few years anyway? B1G numbers weren't great this year. Will UNC and NC State bring in enough football eyes to keep the current payout per team in the SEC? I am not so sure about that.
Expansion isn’t on hold because of viewerships. I believe everyone is on hold for various reasons but government being a big factor. UNC is SEC and Big X biggest priority because neither are tapped into that market.

Expansion is absolutely coming. Miami winning couldn’t have come at a better time and needs to keep generating the TV ratings it’s doing. A run of championships could help, too.

Expect schools to continue to be aggressive with coaching hirings like VT with Franklyn and NIL. Lots of money on the line once the dominoes begin to fall and these programs need to be relevant to find a landing spot. I don’t think fans understand the importance of these programs getting into a P2. If you’re outside looking in then that could be the end of that program as far as relevancy or worse in some cases.

Expansion is ON HOLD.

Otherwise there would be smoke that no. 2 HURRICANES are on their way to B1G. Pure SILENCE

I agree. Everything you wrote is from the school's perspective though. I am talking about from the guys paying the bills perspective - the TV networks.

Do UNC and NC State bring enough juice to bring in at least $200M combined per year to keep the payout per team at least on the same level? They've got to sell plenty of beer, pizza, and ED pill ads to make their money back.

Exactly -You will not see expansion until they figure out the governance of the sport, whether legislative or not, the future of the college football playoff, and of course the ticking time bomb of the TV contracts all coming up around the same time

But shout out to everyone who could have for seen everything that has followed and gets to play backseat driver on everybody else else’s comments

Miami is in a great spot either way

Season 4 No GIF

Vacate wins? Could we be playing for #7 in Vegas...?
No. I don’t think the NCAA has the authority to vacate CFP game wins.

Even then, I would not want Miami to be awarded a national championship. We didn’t win the game on the field.

As an example, USC had their BCS championship game win over Oklahoma vacated following the Reggie Bush scandal. The NCAA vacated the Trojans regular season wins, and based on this, the BCS organization vacated the championship game win. The BCS was a separate organization from the NCAA. The BCS committee made the decision not the NCAA.

But this didn’t make Oklahoma the BCS champion.
